Can't really recommend a specific style, but make sure you break them in before go.

ECCO makes a lot of great shoes and some might fit the bill for you. For example ~

The first two reviews are from people who wore them during travels in Europe. Don't know if these are funky enough for you though?

Good luck!

Firstly - what an amazing holiday - my kind of trip, I would love to know what is on the schedule in London and you are going to the festival/tattoo/fringe in Edinburgh right?

Secondly, I think you need both a pair of closed in shoes and a pair in sandals. I know that England has a reputation for rubbish weather, but it can get hot and sticky and sandals fit the bill in that type of weather. Plus, being able to change your shoes does wonders for sore feet! In fact for 14 days, I would take at least 3 pairs of shoes minimum - so one nicer closed to, one pair of sandals and a pair of converse or similar.

For closed toe shoes, how about a pair of Clarks like these - http://www.clarks.co.uk/find/b.....s-20339633 . I bought these with a MOTG friend and she loves them!

I also recently, at the suggestion of someone on the forum (I'm sorry I can't remember who) got a couple of pairs of these inner soles - http://prettypinktoes.co.uk/insoles.aspx . They feel amazing and have kept my feet cool and comfy...

Lastly, anytime for a cup of tea?

Jean -- a couple more possibilities (all on sale!):

http://www.footsmart.com/Produ.....recs_pp_io in brown or bordeaux

http://www.footsmart.com/Produ.....recs_pp_io in brown

http://www.footsmart.com/Produ.....recs_pp_io interesting color called "iron" but they have a burgundy as well

Okay so far *I* want to get the AK Anne Klein and the Bocce heels. You ladies are a terrible influence!!

We aim to please, Kristen.

Everyone has been SO helpful!!
I have ordered a bunch of recommended shoes to try.
The ones I know will not work are the ones with heels. I am a wimp with long walks and even a 2 inch heel. (Especially on the streets in Edinburgh.)
I tried these on in person and they are actually really cute:

The stone is a more interesting color than the brown in person. The soles of the stone match the top part exactly which I think looks less choppy. They are a good mix of warm and cool.
I think the distressed leather makes them a bit funky and they actually worked with my skinny jeans. They are sturdy and might fit the bill. Thank you Maya!
I will post when I make a decision or need more help.
Londonkiwi- would ,love to meet for tea. I think I will post a separate thread and see if anyone is up for a London and Scotland get together. I do not know how many members live near either place.

Oh, fabulous! Looks like the perfect match. Can't wait to see pics if you decide to go with them.

Nice Danskos!

I thought the Keen website was especially creative to show the shoe with jeans (even your choice of dark or light wash denim!). That didn't help you though, since they showed only bootcuts with the shoes.

Jean, that sounds like the most fun vacation! I hope the Dansko's work out for you.

Ooh! Your trip sounds like it will be amazing! My husband and I backpacked around Europe (including England) for three weeks last year and I got some Privo shoes and they were amazing. I suggest Privo and Clarks, as they have a lot of nice-looking and versatile shoes that are also very comfy. Here are the Privos at Zappos: http://www.zappos.com/womens-p.....ndThumbs:0 but I bet you could find most of them elsewhere for less. These Privos get good ratings on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/privo-Wo.....38;sr=8-11

Yay on getting a pair of new shoes - hopefully they work with your feet.

I will look out for that other thread!
