Came across linen trenches somewhere or another and the idea intrigues me. Lightweight, breathable... and according to my waterproofing spray and various internet sites, able to be waterproofed like other natural fibers. I found a linen trench in a pretty gray. Is it stupid to gamble $$ to remove the polyester lining and waterproof one to see how it goes? Under $40, but still, that's $40 that could go toward something else. Would it look silly to be wearing linen in the rain? In F/W?

ETA: This would NOT be in place of the Nau or other great, gear-quality trench. Just an experiment for someone who loves the classic/miltant vibe of trench coats but needs more breathability and less warmth than most offer.
