Everyone has new boyfriends! What gives?

I am a shopping turtle. You all are like shopping bunnies! In a nutshell, what do you love about your new boyfriends? Should I be trying on a new boyfriend?

I've noticed the same phenomenon Melissa. If it helps you're not the only turtle here. Count me in!

As for 'boyfriend', to me it means wearing my other half's crisp white shirt ( a look I find very sexy). Also, it kind of hints to an observer that the night before might have been rather raunchy, and that appeals to my Gallic sense of unspoken suggestion!!!. LOL! I also think I understand oversize 'boyfriend' cardigans or sweaters, and can see their appeal. But 'boyfriend' jeans?? To me, they conjure up an ugly baggy crotch, and overly-long legs. But I guess I must be missing out on something, cos everyone's talking about them!

So it's not for everyone but it seems to be catching like wildfire here for some reason. I have been a fan of BF jeans for several years. My inspiration has been Jennifer Anniston (don't judge me - she's so gorgeous and Yes I know I bear 0 resemblance) who's worn these for years (pics are recent though)
Angie posted everyone has their comfort zone for bagginess (I draw the line at dropped crotches) but they are fun and freeing from the skinnies for me.

Melissa! So I WAS right!!! BF jeans ARE baggy. Ripped too! Think it's a trend I'll pass on, and stick to my hubbie's white shirt for my personal dose of 'Boyfriend chic'. Somehow the jeans don't have the same wicked power of suggestion! LOL!

If I had to wear these at all, thats how I would wear them(not that I will). I tried it, didn't like it, too sloppy looking for my taste. Try it and see if its your cup of tea. Clearly, this is very popular in Japan because I see this in ALL japanese fashion magazines all the time.

thanks, jeanne. oh to be free of the skinny jeans! gorgeous pics of Miss Jenn! I have ultra short hair, the boyfriend jean didn't sound like something I should try if I still wanted to look like a girl. Was wondering if I was going to be looked at as "so last year" if I continue to wear my skinnies and bootcuts...

Melissa: I usually only wear bootcuts and don't really give a hoot if anyone thinks "its so last year". I pick what looks best on me, whether its on trend or not, I don't care. Wear bootcuts and skinnies if thats the best look for you. I have the same fear as you though, because I have short hair(as you can see from my profile pic) and i am always cautious not to wear things that are too masculine. BF jeans are just not tailored enough for me and don't make my figure look its best

Hubby would raise one eyebrow at the thought of me having a boyfriend.... but about BF jeans, they are one thing I'm going to let pass right on by. My legs are too short for them and I refuse to wear heels all day long to make the proportions right.

And I love boot cut jeans, "in" or not.

Heh, I raided hubby's closet and found a white shirt he had expanded out of that fits me rather decently. So I wear it with my jeans in cooler weather. :o) Not trying the jeans yet and don't know if I will. I just started wearing jeans again last year, on the condition that they are stretch jeans and rather sleek looking. I do NOT need to be adding any extra volume around my gut. Maybe I'll rethink this at my goal weight. I'm rethinking almost everything else...

I think this is the pants pendulum swinging the other way. We're just sick of skin tight skinnies, especially for the summer.

I can understand that, but surely there are cool alternatives without resorting to baggy ripped jeans? How about boot-cut white jeans? Wide-leg creamy-white linen pants? Cotton chinos? Or some palazzo pants in a stunning Emilio Pucci print and a cool natural fibre (probably cotton, silk or a blend of both; perhaps viscose). Surely elegance doesn't HAVE to be thrown out of the window just cos it's Summer??

I decided that true BF jeans were not right for me - but I did get a pair of so-called BF shorts. They are comfy, not baggy in the crotch, just a bit more worn looking denim with rolled cuffs (and not really bermuda length because I still like more of my leg to show). KUT from the Kloth brand. I also found a great pair of somewhat faded, slightly whiskered, but not torn - very comfy, soft Levis Curve ID on sale for $19.99 and these "count" as my new BF jeans. They are straight legged, could be rolled a little and feel just loose enough to wear in summer. I was instantly in love because my closet otherwise consisted of nearly all dark wash denim skinnies, trousers or boot cuts.
