Ok, I hate tops. There I've said it. A top is there to be modest under a blazer or simple and elegant with a pair of jeans. Therefore I have historically had too few tops and that can hamper my ability to get dressed. I made a total commitment this year that I was going to stock up on nice quailty tops (and not buy yet another blazer) but I also wanted to add some elevated essential tops. I'm a neutral monochromatic girl. I prefer texture over color and this has been a bit of a hewi. JCrew discontinued my beloved Jackie cotton shell but the JCrew Factory has a similar but it's a slightly lesser quality shell. It runs large so size 4 me, needs an xs. But it's fine. I stocked up on sale. I added the Theory regal ss merino sweaters which is my version of a tee shirt and the regal scoop neck ribbed 3/4 sleeve merino sweaters (this baby is like wearing a cloud, so light so comfy to both) I have black, navy and gray in both so I had more to combine and better quality but I wanted similar with interesting detail. I love the new sheer trend - modest but interesting. The Frame Crew neck is delightful, very comfy and fits TTS fitted but not tight. I have the black from anthropologie but can't get the find. Comes with a turtleneck iteration too. https://www.anthropologie.com/.....1& The Vince sweater is delicate TTS, I like that a cami can change the level of transparency and gives interest to monochromatic. The Vince lace icy LS tee is great also. TTS on all, small fit is like on the model which is what I was looking for. The two Vince tops just went on sale and I was nodding with Angie when she reported pricing is CRAZY. But with the sale it's a little less hurtful. I have worn all the above several times this spring and much as I hate to admit it, a girl cannot live comfortably in a jackie shell alone (although she can try). Anyway for neutral gals who need tops highly recommended.
