Amazing dress, Fruitful! Love the story.
Astrid, I love your hair!
Everyone's dresses/outfits are so wonderful and inspiring!

Thanks for posting your pictures!
Mo- I am so happy you decided to play along!
Jenava - Absolutely! I have a peplum dress. I didn't know if I should wear it for the 40s or keep it for the 80s.I finally decided that it is going to make an appearance tomorrow for the 60s, but for a different reason.

This is such fun! I love what everyone has done with their outfits!
Here's my first ever WIW. I confess I'm not actually wearing many of the challenge outfits on the right days because my work schedule and the weather are being uncooperative.
I realise the sepia makes it look more 19th century than 1940s but my 6 year old set my camera to sepia and I couldn't figure out how to change it back until after I'd taken the dress off!
Looking at these I see I need to (a) tidy up and (b) practise taking photos...

Here is my 1930s/40s inspired outfit (better late than never, eh?)! This is my favorite fashion decade (tied with the 80s), though I don't have a lot of items reminiscent of the decade in my closet (unlike the 80s). The strong shoulders of the 40s really appeal to me, even with my IT tendencies, and I love the military/menswear vibe of the era, especially apparent in the war time as women were re-purposing men's clothing for themselves; thus the military-styled top (really a dress) with epaulets on the shoulders. To that I added my midi skirt (representing the longer hemlines and flared shape skirts), and semi-sheer/opaque black tights (representing the craze of sheer nylons). I kept this outfit simple as a nod to the post-Depression induced minimalism, leaving off a belt which I would normally wear with this, and sporting only my most important jewelry: earrings, wedding ring, and watch. Did a little 40s inspired twisty hair-do, too

You nailed it, Aida. The hairdo is perfect.
