Would not have thought to see this dress on you, for some reason, is it a departure with the big check?
Anyway, you carry it off perfectly and I like it with the pants better than alone, more modern looking.
A dramatic long coat, like Angie says, and its a really useful winter outfit!

Thank you, everyone! Hopefully I'll get a chance to try a real wearing of this. After wearing the pants for only a brief time, it became apparent that I'll need to have them altered before I wear them out. They don't have belt loops, and they're a mid-rise, so they slide down my hips quite a bit. (I'm not complaining, though -- I had reached a point where I was not feeling good with the weight I was slowly gaining. I've made some subtle changes in my eating over the last few months that seem to be helping, and I think my exercise routine is helping too. I hate it when my clothes get tight!) I could do this same thing with my wide-leg Athleta pants, which are wider in the leg all the way down to the hem.

Olive Green, the dress is perhaps a little departure for me in recent years. I would have worn the heck out of this earlier in my life when I had a real job to go to. For this stage of my life, I barely own any dresses that can be worn outside of hot summer conditions. I bought this dress probably 10 years ago and wore it a handful of times but it's unique enough that I wanted to hang onto it and see if it can still work for me.

Just saw this and agree that it works beautifully. Hope you have a date night for a test drive once the pants are altered. I struggle with the dress over pants option and this offers a good way to approach it.

I feel you on the lovely ex job clothes. I think all of mine finally passed, but I still miss a brilliant few things. Congrats on making some progress on healthy eating. Loose pants are so affirming!

I think it's a fab combination! Hopefully the alteration will make the pants perfect.
