Double denim challenge:

Bonnie

My denim wardrobe is very small with 6 skinny jeans, 2 vests, 1 jacket, and 2 chambray shirts. I wear the shirts often, so I decided to challenge myself with the vests and unwearable jacket. I think I definitely need to find more flattering vests and jackets in denim that work with my short waist. I would appreciate any suggestions.

Skinny jeans: TB
Tunic: Comfy
Vest 1: Lucky Brand
Vest 2: I removed the sleeves from an old jacket that was too large.
Jacket: Anthropologie

I think these are all great, although true double denim, to me, is when you have two blue denims together, so, you're cheating Bonnie

I like the vest on #1 the best as it is kind of relaxed, which is how I picture your style.

Like Smittie -- I rather like all of these pieces. I can picture the vests in #1 and #2 worn with white jeans. (Do you have any white amongst your 6 pairs?) I love the jacket in #3 as you are wearing it over the tunic.

smittie: I do have 4 pairs of blue denim but they don"t seem to work well with any of the toppers but I'll give it a try.
El Cee: I do have white jeans. I'm trying to work with a column of color but I have a few white/light tops I could try.
Anne: Thank you, this is fun for me. My top fits well on the top but flares at the bottom and that may be the problem. I'll try a couple of navy/ink tops that fit closer.

#3 is a total winner, in my book! Love it on you. The jacket is a nice fit and the length creates nice proportions to me eye.
The two vests look a bit long for this short-over-long approach you've tried.
I would try those vests over a knee-length dress and over an outfit where the top is tucked or shorter, to see how they work.
I'm short-waisted, and I find a cropped denim jacket is useful, too, for short-over-long type outfits. Mine is in Finds below. I don't like the cropped jacket with tops tucked in, though; for me, it definitely is for wearing with longer tops worn out, and with dresses.

Firecracker: Thank you. You are right - the proportions are wrong, the vests need to be shorter for this length of tunic. I'm thinking that the tunic needs to be longer with the jacket, more of a short dress. I love your jacket and it's shown with a really short tunic. I'll look for something like that and try it. I like my jacket but have been unhappy with every thing I've tried but you have given me some great suggestions to save it.
