D'orsay flats K/R and Dr Martens Moya

I popped into Winners unexpectedly today looking for trousers for my husband. I didn't find anything for him but as we cruised by the shoes I snuck off for a quick look and they had a pair of D'orsay flats in my size and only $30! What do you think? Do they work? Do they make my feet look huge?

The second set of photos are my Dr Martens Moya brogue boots. I can't wait until fall to start wearing these. They are super comfortable and the cherry red leather is gorgeous. They came with the cream laces...should I change them out or do you think they work? Note: the eyelets are cream also.

The eyelets are cream in the boots, hence the cream laces. I could always paint them.

I think the flats are very chic on you! Lucky find I bet they'd look cute with your cutoffs and rolled up linens too.

The Martens are adorable in their Doc Marten funky way, and you'll have lots of fun with them come fall.

Switching the laces? If it were me, I would, but I'm very tonal. It looks like the eyelets are white, so switching to a tan lace (because it's tonal with stitching and sole) might not look the way I'd expect.

Flats are adorable. Your foot shape carries them off well! I was going to suggest tan laces too. They might look okay with the eyelets.

Leave the laces then. I would be too afraid of killing the boots with a DIY job. The tone on tone lace is not going to work with white eyelets, which I completely overlooked. You can always change your mind later, as they get worn it. Not cool to mess them up from the get go!

Adore the boots and I am not a big Docs fan, but I think tan laces would be fine with those eyelets. The white ones say "bowling" to me.

Love the flats! I wouldn't mind the Docs with darker laces but leave the eyelets as they are. I think the subtle contrast would look quite cool;)

The flats are super. Do they have an ankle strap? How the heck do those things stay on?

Love them both. It may take your eyes awhile to get used to the laces. If they don't, I would go for gray since you wear a lot of gray, or maybe orange(?) to match the sole where the stitching is.

Suz, there is a heel cup and the front of the shoe cups your forefoot. They are actually really comfy and in the little walking around I have done, they stick like glue!

The Chinese Laundry Easy Does It flat is similar, I've attached a photo of them in fuchsia. My brand is Laundry List, which I gather is a sub-brand of CL?

I like the look of the flats Ceit - are they comfortable? I will admit I'm slightly unsure of them for your style.

The boots are DIVINE!!! I would actually leave the laces as is, but that's just me.

Yeah, see, that would NEVER stay on my foot. I can't even get a regular flat to stay on. I adore the look of these but unless they had a heel (and even then) they would fly off my foot faster than you can say Sir Ceit.

I think for your style these can work perfectly! Knights are not always out in the forest fighting dragons or in the field jousting. They also attend balls and such.

Both great footwear finds and I will cast another vote for trying different colored laces without painting the eyelets. I kind of like the present contrasting cream laces, but think they might require more styling effort. And you don't want these boots to become orphans because they are hard to style. So, you could try matching red, or lower contrast black, brown, charcoal, medium grey, orange, etc... it might be fun! I think the eyelets are small so you could still achieve a tonal look with red laces. (And like Sara I bat for team tonal.)

As for the flats fitting your style ... that's what's great about places like Winners or fast fashion stores. You can experiment with a look outside of your norm without too much risk.

Love these shoes on you! I also really like the cream laces, but you can swap out colors for more options. Do they make patterned laces, like a zebra print? Then they would kind of go with the tan and the cream eyelets.

Oh, those flats are so fun and pretty.

Great Docs, I think both light and dark laces would work, but the bright ones look more fresh to my eye.
