I'm trying to replace my everyday bag. Looking for blue or grey & it needs to be an across body bag (shorter handles would be a bonus). The main problem is it needs to be light - I find I just can't carry heavy bags any more - I had to sell my beautiful Mulberry bag for this reason.

I had a Prada messenger years ago & really liked it, so that's why I started looking at them. The nylon & leather ones seem very light compared to most similar sized bags.

Added info - I tried a clutch but it just won't work for me - I really need hands & armpit free:)

I was given one secondhand and I love mine! Although mine isn't the model you are talking about. I have never favored nylon or canvas bags as much as leather.

Have you considered a satchel with a cross body strap?

I think I still have a Prada cross-body bag packed away somewhere. I loved it. It was all nylon (this was about 14-15 years ago). I have no idea if they still make those.

Hey Cocolion, a wall street journal video interviewed prada and they are bringing them back this year so break out that bag :)!

I've always loved the nylon Prada bags and have always wanted one. I've had various lookalikes over the years but one day I will get myself the real thing.

I saw this bag yesterday and I think I will get it in the Dove color. I looked on the web site last noght and saw it also comes in a light blue. Has both shoulder and cross body straps. It is a beautiful bag.

love prada bags.

have you seen this company MZ WALLACE. there bags are lightweight and most have handles and straps that can be worn cross body. plus they have pockets to hold everything that you can think of.

Oh! I have a nylon (with leather trim) MZ Wallace bag and I like it a lot! I also have a Longchamps Le Pliage tote which is always a good, lightweight choice that holds a ton.

I have a couple of nylon ones from the 90's that are almost past using they are so worn. I have a small cross body and a small bucket bag. They were fantastic for travel as they packed flat and weighed nothing. The cost per wear on mine is pennies as I have used them for 10 years or more on a regular basis.

I have been wondering if the quality is as good as it once was but I can vouch for the older ones. I am off to Italy soon so I will keep an eye out for the re-issue of these type of bags.

I don't really know anything about the brand, but I tend to have a poison eye for logos. Getitng over it slowly, as it is so hard to find a good bag without the darn logo on it!

Thistle - me too. If you want me to display your logo you need to pay *me* to wear it. I don't want to pay you for the privilege of advertising for you.

As for the nylon bag, I can see the advantage of having something so lightweight. I'd have a hard time spending that sort of money for a nylon bag though. I guess I would think that a very well-made nylon bag could be had for significantly less money, but maybe I'm thinking of nylon in the wrong way?

Thistle - I'm with you on logos. I think the designers should pay me to wear their advertising not the other way around:) The only exceptions I've made are sun glasses - Chanel with the interlocked cs & a pair of boots with "SEE by Chloe" stamped into the leather. I think I can cope with the Prada badge - I can always turn it towards my body:)

I'm bag illiterate - and totally okay with that. Just curious about the post question and how it relates to your bag needs. Are you wondering how others would perceive you carrying a Prada bag? Again, I'm so not bag aware, so maybe my question is stupid. I'll admit I have NO idea what a Prada bag even looks like lol.

I dont know the Prada line (except that it is really pricey & likely awesome stuff) , but I really like a nylon crossbody for functionality and light (empty) weight. I dont carry much but some of the bags are so heavy empty as to cause a problem.

I like the cross body typically for my back issue, however when my particular lower back injury is flaring up I do find going to a hand carried bag (usually in the crook of the elbow) is preferable so I have a few of these available too.

No poison but hate logos. The good thing is I could never recognize a designer bag without one. I have a consignment-store Kate Spade tote that I love but it has a small name plate that still makes me nervous--though I bought it anyway--and threaten to tie a ribbon over.

Prada makes gorgeous bags! I'm eying up a navy blue briefcase for my husband at the moment. In general their labels and logos are very subtle, which I appreciate.

I don't know Prada bags, but for me as long as they don't have giant logos like LV or Coach then I can usually find one I like. It's more about the style, shape and color for me. I don't like obvious branding on bags (or anything really).

Have you looked at Marimekko bags? Their aesthetic is very different from Prada but they're very well constructed and made out of canvas with minimal metal hardware so they're very light.

Their big thing is pattern but I have seen some comparatively subtle patterns from them AND they are all machine washable.

Mo - My question was more one of quality rather than how I would be perceived. I can see why people feel paying a lot of money for nylon is not worth it but in my experience (& I'm not in the USA so I have fewer options) the other non-leather bags I see look either way too casual & travel bag -ish or worse still the quality is really poor.

The Prada nylon bags do seem to be lovely imo - but I just wanted to canvas other opinions.

Spiffy - thanks for that I did actually look at some of their bags but I want something I can use everyday with jeans & dressier outfits (tall order I know). The ones I saw were way more casual than this.

Ah, got it. The phrasing tripped me up I guess. I have had a nylon bag by Nine West that was so durable I wore it straight for almost 10 years. I still have it, but have moved on to my leather Fossil. Caro, I like Prada bags and am not bothered by wearing the logo, but I wonder if this bag you are looking at is 1. Interesting enough and 2. Smart enough? I admit to loving the nylon bag so take my bias into account but somehow this just doesn't look smart enough for you.

- big enough for everyday
- a really nice royal navy
- amazingly light
- long enough to wear across the body

I think it will work with dressier day clothes & also with jeans. My life is fairly casual but I do wear a lot of jackets/coats - or I will if autumn ever arrives.

When I first started taking an interest in fashion a few years ago, I found myself stuck with a long layover in Heathrow airport, which is sort of like being trapped in a luxury goods shopping mall. I wandered into the Prada store to see what all the fuss was about and I have to admit that I was really shocked that utilitarian nylon bags could cost so much! The ones they had at the time seemed like 80s gym bags, not even any leather trim, and I thought they were hideous.

But this one is pretty nice looking!
