Do you have a Style Crush?

'femme d’un certain age' Posted about style crushes today and her statemt below made me think for quite some time.

*To me, a Style Crush is slightly different than a Style Icon. Icons are more timeless while Crushes are of-the-moment and may change over time. Crushes interpret current fashion in a way that speaks to me, whereas Icons transcend fashion.

And, in the end, I do not have any style crushes, do you?

I'm of course currently crushing on Deborah Harry but also Marian Kihogo. And Olive Oyl.

Kind of embarrassing, but this character from a tween Disney show my son watches. She wears full skirts, vests, stripes, bright colors...my husband is always saying, "you want that outfit, don't you?" Yes, I do, although I am 30 years older than she is. I'd wear the skirt longer, of course.

Lots of ladies here on YLF of course!
Also, in the UK we had a long running series called Silent Witness; about a forensic scientist. The leading lady played by Emilia Fox has lovely clothes and I think I have a style crush on the character.

I like all the tops that the character Kono on Hawaii 5-0 wears - lots of loose, drapey tanks and tees. After every episode I want to know where her clothes come from. I don't always like the whole outfit though - just the tops she wears.

Celebs? No. But Ceit, Una, Shannon, Suz, Anna, Aida... Hm I guess I still don't have a crush, because they have all moved onto icon status!

I find it too confusing to differentiate between crushes & icons. I don't know if it means that we aspire to their style either. I mentioned Victoria Beckham in the alter ego thread but don't have the lifestyle to dress like her, hence being an alter ego. Emmanuel Alt & Kate Moss are either crush's, icons or both. Anita Pallenberg. I love many YLFers style & am afraid if I start listing I will leave someone out. And again does it mean I would like to dress like them or that I like their style? My favourite YLFers style, off the top of my head are Angie, Ceit, Denise, Lantana, Deborah, Caro, Shannon, MaryK, Rae, Una, Janet, Zap, BJ1111, Vicky, Suz, Thistle & I'm sure there are others. I don't have similar style to some of them but enjoy their fab style.

My first style crush was Tinkerbell. I was 2 at the time and I'd like to think my style has evolved since then

I must be in between style crushes at the moment. I have a friend who is incredibly stylish yet she looks like every outfit is effortless. I find her a huge inspiration and I want her wardrobe!

Otherwise I'm always on the look out for people with coloring or a figure like mine so I can get more ideas about things I haven't thought of yet that could look good on me.

Many YLFers of course! MaryK's business attire (and colors!), Janet's jackets, Annagybe's preppy but so cool items, Zap's cool style, Rae if I were younger, Denise (cocolion) and Jonesy (where are you???). So many others I can't even think now.
Celebs I find myself pinning most often are Jessica Alba, Jennifer Anniston, Miranda Kerr, Kate and Pippa Middleton, Reese Witherspoon, and Angie. I love Gwen Stefani, but could not pull it off.

What a thrill to be mentioned here My style crushes at the moment would be Stephanie (Odyssey Home), Beverley (Beverley Like Hills), Audi (Fashion for Nerds) and Mia (Glass Organelle). And then of course there are my fellow fabbers! I find it hard to name specific members because I honestly 'crush' on aspects of many of your styles. I do however have a particular affinity with the style of Caro, bj1111 and Diana. I don't mention Angie here because I put her in the "Icon" category:) And probably my longest standing style crush would have to be Deborah Harry!

And as an aside, Diane G, I love Emilia Fox (and Silent Witness). A couple of seasons back she was wearing some fabulous oversized silky blouses which I kept looking for on line:)

Anyone who dresses in full-on steampunk style, Vivienne Westwood, David Bowie, Scully in the X-Files, all those glamorous 40s and 50s movie stars.

I'd never dress like any of these people in real life but those are the ones that spring to mind!

To me Audrey Hepburn, Sophia Loren, Princess Grace, Lauren Hutton and
Jackie Kennedy are the one's that spring to mind for timeless chic. Jessica
Alba, Miranda Kerr, Elle McPherson, Emmanuelle Alt and Kourtney Kardahsian in
their street style casual looks provide inspiration to me, mainly through I
crush on individual items I see people wearing.
