After we had been in this house for a couple of years(2700sf, moving from a 800sf house!), my husband talked me into having someone come and clean for us every two weeks. After one or two not-great services, we found out the guy who did some yard work for us has a wife who cleans. Seventeen years later, she still cleans for us! I don’t know what we would do without her, she’s great.

In between, I clean and vacuum and declutter and straighten. I’m a neat freak. Hubs does most of the outdoor work. I do the bulk of the cooking and all of the laundry — I actually like doing laundry myself because it all gets folded and put away promptly that way.

We do it ourselves, yes, though in the past (in Ontario) we had a twice a month cleaning person. This house is a little easier to deal with than that one was (fewer stairs) and we manage, Mr. Suz and I are tidy. Our kid is NOT but they live in their own flat in the house, thank goodness. We don't really have a set schedule but we get it done.

I have someone cut our grass -- I am slightly allergic and I loathe the job. I do the rest of the outdoor work but find it taxing -- it's too much for me. Something I am working on and considering for the future. No big property once the kiddo is gone.

We do all of our cleaning. I do the laundry and clean the bedrooms, baths, hall, and laundry room. DH shops and cooks and cleans the kitchen, living room, and his office. I do most of our small yard and he does all of the painting and repairs. It works out for us.

I have someone clean once a week. She alternates full days one week with half days the next. Neither is not enough time to do the entire house, but it helps reduce the cleaning load so DH and I can do the rest.

Our kitchen is not large given the size of our house, but it has a functional layout with two sinks, three if you count the bar sink near the dining room. It’s designed for multiple cooks and it works well. I thank my late stepfather, a homebuilder, and owner of a kitchen and bath design business for this. He suggested a book called Kitchen design with cooking in mind when I was building my house. The book has great information and includes various layouts using two sinks in the kitchen.

We have a large home and a decent size yard. We have a lawn service every week to mow. My husband keeps up with the weeding and trimming pretty much. I clean the house , cook and do all the laundry. Its a lot as we have a 3500sq ft home with 4 full bathrooms and a finished basement . The basement only gets used now during NFL season so I actually cleaned it today ! I have tried cleaning services but have always been disappointed and I'm certainly not a perfectionist . We also have a small cottage on the St Lawrence River at the mouth of Lake Ontario which I clean. It's pretty small but does seem to accumulate a lot of spider webs overnight! I don't mind cleaning the cottage but I'm not going to lie the other house is hard to keep up with.

I do it all by myself.

Bathrooms are done weekly from top to bottom. Floors are vacuumed/swiffered every 2-3 weeks and mopped monthly (we have no pets and do not wear shoes in the house so there's not much dirt or dust.) Furniture and countertops are dusted/wiped down every two weeks and as needed, including sideboards and closets.

Every quarter I do a deep clean (pull out a ladder and dust ceiling fans, pictures/paintings, railings, sideboards, light fixtures, furniture oil the wood, condition leather furniture, etc). I also use that time to go through everything and eliminate any clutter (ie junk drawers, etc).

We do it ourselves - have a robo-vac that helps some but I still vacuum regularly, plus we have stairs that have to be cleaned. We have a double sink with a low middle and plenty of room on both sides. I use stainless utensil containers inside one side of the sink to put rinsed utensils. There is also a stainless drain rack in the bottom so I can stack plates on their sides. We do have a dishwasher but that's for larger loads. We cook often 3 meals a day so a lot of kitchen use. It's dusty here so it would be nice to have someone come in a do dusting from top to bottom and mopping and do the bathrooms thoroughly. I keep thinking I should get someone but I don't really want a weekly commitment and it's hard to find someone for just twice a month. Now I feel like I need to stop working and go clean something!
