Not the capsule we're usually referring to here. It's from when I first started actively pursuing an interest in clothes, and some clarification on my style. Around 2007 or 2008 I began collecting pictures of clothes and looks that resonated with me. (I didn't start bookmarking things off the internet till a bit later.) Just yesterday I found the folder containing many of these ripped-out pages from places like Lucky Mag and so forth.

Of course there were one or two items I was definitely over, but the great thing was how much I have continued to identify with some key concepts. It further backs up the assessments you all are helpfully making here for me and my style intentions.

I see a few things that have not changed, including romantic, vintage, antique as well as hard, minimalist, modern, futuristic.

I think that if I am ever going to be a style genius what I really need to do is to combine the different elements into one outfit. What I've learned is that I love is the tension of opposing dynamics. Masculine/feminine, boxy/flowy, etc.

These were all hard-copy items and not all was I able to find online, but here is one of them. I am still crazy about it (in this case I mean the jacket specifically. It does look nice with the dress, but that's incidental):

(ETA better view of this luscious jacket: http://www.closetcouture.com/items/4920/view/ )

Another one, from Lucky Mag, I could not find a pic of the woman wearing the exact outfit, but here is the blouse, by Sretsis:

I wish I could show you her pic. She has long, dark Byronesque curls, and is wearing this blouse tucked into a cognac-colored leather schoolboy blazer so that only the powder blue ruffles are exposed, draped over the lapels of the blazer like a waterfall. She's wearing it with dark-wash skinny jeans, a vintage-looking brown belt, a lacy gold bracelet and some red heels (which add the requisite sexy/feminine, but I am neutral on the heels).

As those of you familiar with my style goals would recognize, this is a romantic poet, dramatic, crisp and soft look that I find so appealing. It's got drama, exoticism and edge, but mostly in the details.

It's great to confirm that at core, my ideals haven't shifted much at all.
