What are the features to look for in a denim jacket these days? I haven't really worn one since the '80s LOL

Depends what you're going for!

I love mine - it's a little boxy, and little cropped, very light colored and has some nice distressing.

If you're not planning to wear yours with dresses or skirts then you ccan probably get a regular hip length one...the question in what kind of wash suits you? If your jeans are all dark wash you might want to get one that is a different wash than that to avoid the "Texas Tuxedo" look...

I like to wear them with dresses and skirts so I bought a slightly cropped, dark wash one at American Eagle (got a white one too). That brand was recommended here and I really like mine. That particular model comes in several washes, and has a nice amount of stretch.

When I shopped for a new one last year, I looked for one that was a bit cropped, so I could wear it with dresses and skirts, light wash because most of my jeans are dark wash and I wanted the contrast, and fitted, not too boxy, because I like some waist definition and a lot of boxy looks (particularly non-drapey fabrics like denim) just make me look big since I'm quite hourglassy. I found a great one from Mavi, but I bet there are lots more out there!

I like either a really faded, distressed one or a super dark wash. I look for a slim fit through the arms and torso, longer for wearing with pants, shorter for wearing with dresses.
