Lynne,
I am so very sorry about your loss. Your husband looks like a beautiful, wonderful man, and I hope your lovely memories of him serve as some measure of comfort over the coming months and years.

I also have wept as I read this. So sorry for your loss. The long fight with cancer and loss of loved ones is very familiar to me. Sounds like you have been very strong through this and had great support from family and friends. I hope we can be a bit of online support here if you ever need to vent. Do know that your kids will be alright and will carry the memories of a wonderful father with them all their lives. They are fortunate to have a strong and beautiful mother like you. What a wonderful idea to bring a pet home! The parakeet I had as a kid was brought in after such an unfortunate event and I can't tell you how much joy it brought to my shaken child world.

Lynne, I have been missing you on the forum. Your story brings tears to my eyes, I am so sorry for your loss. A similar situation occurred in my family; my sister's husband of 23 years passed away in his 40s from a sudden cancer. The first few years were difficult but I am happy to say that she is doing well now, 10 years later. A Lab puppy is a wonderful idea, we have two litter mates, now almost 5 years old and they bring so much joy to our lives.

I have somehow nearly missed this thread. I too choked up reading your post, having followed along your journey through this disease from afar. I am SO terribly sorry for what your family has to go through. My heart goes out to you and your children, may you all have the strength to face each new day.
