cutting off the pull tab?

I bought the scuba pencil skirt from Loft, and I LOVE it! I'll post pictures in a WIW soon. My only issue is that it has this awkwardly large pull tab.

Look at the second picture on the website, and zoom in on the zipper:

I bought the black skirt, so it's not quite as obvious, but it's still a giant pull tab. Not only do I not like the way it looks, I'm afraid it will get caught on something while I'm sitting and unzip me when I stand up! (I might be over-thinking this...)

So, can I cut it?

Usually I would just snip it and never look back, but I'm curious why the designers thought it was worth including in the first place. Is it super chic and I just don't get it?!

Yes, I think I'd cut it off. Not sure what the purpose is.

I think the purpose is just to make it easier to get the zipper down and the skirt off. There's no reason why you can't remove it, though.

It says in the description on the website that it is a "scuba gear-inspired detail." So, if you aren't concerned with your skirt looking like scuba gear, then cut it off!

I love this skirt!!

It is strictly for aesthetics...like the exposed zipper theme, they all had ribbon from the zipper, I happen to love the visual interest of it:)

Feel free to remove, it shan't fall apart at the seams:)

Ha ha, I think that is the scuba inspired-part. On the one hand I think the tab makes the very non-hidden zipper make more sense, but on the other hand I would also be afraid of the tab unzipping when getting caught on something. If you have the skirt in black, then the zipper is probably less noticeable anyway.

Angie, if I ever encounter a wardrobe malfunction even half as disastrous as accidentally unzipping the back of my skirt, I guarantee that I will tell everyone at YLF as soon as possible!

Elizabeth, good point. I think if I were interested in having my clothes look like scuba gear I could go all out and join team SCUBA JUMPSUIT! If only I owned a wetsuit I could post the best WIW...
