Late to the party but had to chime in that, of course, I love it and it totally works. I like to wear mine this way too, although it had gotten too cold for mine for a bit there. Going to have to pull them out now that we've got a mini warm spell! And look for a heavier warmer pair ^^

Perfect! This is how I'd like to wear them, as a warmer alternative to pencil skirt. If I had culottes. And if I had boots. Oh well.

If it is not a no-no to say so, I do think this overlaps with the old gaucho pants which I never had but loved, but looks more modern--full enough to look intentional and not like cropped pants, but not too full. I'm sure I would feel too schtumpy in culottes with bare legs and shoes because I wouldn't wear heels, but I love this more sporty look, so I hope it is in style! And it is always the right thing to snap up nice wool items. the not-black color is great to go with black and so it shows up the culottes instead of being a sea of black.
