The Eileen Fisher cropped wide-leg pants in charcoal appealed to me for their color and silhouette. I like the idea of updating my fall/winter pants with some of the newer cropped flare or wide-leg styles. And I much prefer charcoal to black, for my wardrobe.
I didn't get to try these pants on in the store (or, I did try them, but a few sizes up, in the black). So I ordered them, in my best guess at the "size down" that is recommended. When I got them and tried them on, they seemed too big. So I ordered the next size down, and those are definitely too small. I could alter the larger ones, but I'm not sure whether I want to go to the trouble, because a) I don't know how I feel about the style on me, and b) I wish they were a slightly darker shade of charcoal.

On a lemming impulse, after seeing all the excitement about the Halogen cropped flares from Angie and forum members, I ordered them, in my best guess at my size. They fit perfectly. The problem is, they are black--why don't they come in charcoal???!!--and I have a really nice pair of black ankle pants that I would wear with essentially the same things I'd wear these pants with. Still, I'm leaning toward keeping them, just for that update--i.e., adding the new silhouette.

Here are the photos, for your perusal.

1-6: Halogen cropped flares, with different tops and footwear options.

5-10: Eileen Fisher wide-leg crops, in the size I would wear, with different tops and footwear options.

11-12: Eileen Fisher wide-leg crops, in the next size down--which is too small, even if it's not evident in the photos (too short in the crotch and tight at the waist and high hip)--but just to see for comparison.

If I do keep the Halogen pants, do they need to be an inch shorter?

Thanks for looking! I welcome your thoughts! And maybe seeing these styles on me will help some of you who are considering them.
