Shedev, glad booties may work. I wore oxfords every single day of elementary school (along with a peter pan collar and poufy sleeves). I'm not sure I can getthat association out of my head!

I think straights or looser skinnies would work with the shoes that Anna and Deb linked to. I wear booties under straight legs and under or over skinnies, depending on the leg opening and shaft height of the bootie, and tall boots over both.

My go-to shoe is a bootie with a 1.25-1.75" heel. I have some great Western style ones from Vintage Shoe Co. and Vic Matie/Vic Italy. I've also tried some I loved from H by Hudson.

I think booties with skinnies or straights are an awesome look. You can either wear them tucked in the top, or pulled over. If you like a longer leg line, e.g. the jeans pulled over the boots, make sure you get a low vamp bootie rather than a higher ankle boot. I have found that the skinny leg hikes up and wants to bunch and stack above the bootie opening, unless the vamp is low.

Carter, I don't wear heels and went through old outfit photos on my pad. Overall, I think pointy toes are the way to go with skinny, straight and especially wider legs.
1: sandals with about an inch of heel with track type pants ( narrow opening in leg)
2: booties with about 1 inch heel with wide leg denim trousers. Almond toe
3: pointy toe booties with about a 1.5 inch heel and wide legs
4: pointy toe flat loafers with straight legs.
These may not be the looks you want but will give you an idea of what some combinations look like.

JCrew has a matchstick style jean that is a slim straight cut. Slim enough you could still wear your tall boots over them without a lot of excess fabric. I had a white pair (from the outlet, I think) last year that I wore to death with loafers. I think kitten heels would be fine, but I don't love booties under boot cut jeans.

Uh, I don't know what my jeans are ... a bootcut with a slight flare? HAHA. I don't really own that many pairs of jeans ... but I have more straight cut jeans I wear my points with too...

I wear ankle boots with flared straight bootcut boyfriend and skinny jeans.
I wear knee high boots over skinny and straight jeans.
I wear loafers with boyfriend and bootleg jeans (although I am not wildly happy with this combination of bootleg and loafer on me, so it is normally very shortlived)
I wear low-mid pumps with all the above jean styles

I think skinnies could work for work with longer tops and flat knee high boots, this would take away some of the body consciousness.

I think bootlegs would work with a very low heel, it will be just getting the hem length correct. I have been off bootlegs for a wee while now so only have one pair that I don't wear very often, but am just starting to feel the love for the shape again, they are flattering! I think they are best with a low heel rather than a totally flat shoe.

A 1" heel is good. I would just avoid ballet flats - which are those flats, to me, that don't have a real sole of any substance. I vote straight legs - over the boot. Tucked is RATE.
