Boy, the "cute" part is the stumper. Cute is in the eye of the beholder.
I've been wearing various ankle boots, including cowboy, for several years now with pants and skirts, summer and winter.
I started wearing them because Marc Jacobs was asked how women should wear a skirt/his skirts. "Like a boy!," he answered. So I started thinking how some of those punk boys looked in the occasional skirt and how they walked and it suited me.
If you Google around Isabel Marant booties or Dicker booties, you ought to see a lot of "off duty model" looks. Parisian/Hollywood .
And if you Google something like Rockabilly, you ought to see a lot more intentional girlie looks. Western.
Of all the ankle boots I have had in the last few years, it's the Marant knockoff boots in a dark denim color suede that gets all the attention and compliments. My friend, who claimed she would never wear ankle boots because they cut your legs (stumpifying), ordered her own pair as soon as she saw me wearing mine and tried them on.
