I followed Angie's advice (and that of several others here) and tried the Maeve Colette corduroys from Anthropologie. I got the cropped ones in dark green ("green motif"). (For some reason I can't make a Find.) While I was there, I also tried on and bought the Good American low-rise flare jeans in wine corduroy. I also got the Cary's mock-neck sweater by Maeve in plum print, because it caught my eye and I thought it looked so good with the pants. The Good American cords are mid-rise on me, not low-rise, and I took my usual size.

Here are some dressing room photos of the wine cords and plum print sweater, and a couple of home selfies with the dark green cords. When I tried on the cords in the store, someone in the dressing room commented on the great match with the dark olive boots I was wearing. I found it hard to tell the colors in the dressing room, but sure enough, it is a fine match, and the cords will fit seamlessly into my wardrobe. They go really nicely with what I wore to the store, and also with the Madewell sweater below in Finds, for starters.

Now that I'm home, I'm not sure about the size of the green cords, though. I got a size down from my usual, and they seemed perfect. Now they seem a bit snug. I'll wear them around for a bit and see how they feel. I know you can't tell anything from the photos; I just couldn't get a better shot right now.

The sweater is really bold for me, but I like it and think I'll wear it. I'll be interested to hear your thoughts.

EDIT: The green cords in the size up (my usual size) arrived. Photos 5 & 6. I don't think the photos show much of a difference, but the fit is better, and more comfortable. I'm keeping this pair.
