Contemplating the idea of wearing loafers. Help, ideas, photos?

Well, ballet flats are lovely but don't suit my feet. I am trying to find a good pair (again). I've been with the same pair of patent ballet flats for... four or five years. No, they are not perfect, they have never been. The heel rubbed, and they fell off... but they are better than anything else I've tried so far. At least they are hard (instead of fluffy and shapeless), they cover the toes almost entirely and have a bit of a sole (not completely flat). They look pretty much ruined though, so they need replacement.

So I'm starting to kind of like the idea of loafers/moccasins... Just so you understand where I come from, I've NEVER EVER liked moccasins. While I've ALWAYS liked ballet flats (remounting to my first thoughts on shoes, back in 1995). My mom is a moccasin wearer since forever in spring and fall since thet feel really comfortable on her extremely fussy (and one of them deforme due to bad surgery) feet. But I never really liked them, so it's hard for me to see myself in them...

But maybe they are my solution for flat slip-on shoes, after all.

I think I could see myself in something like these, particularly the burgundy pair with the cute bow detail and the low vamp...

The ones that do wear loafers/moccasins, could you help with any visuals/outfits? Thank you!!

Irene, in Australia we often call slippers (that you wear with your pyjamas) moccasins:). So I was relieved when I saw the photos. I think these (I call them loafers) would be a great alternative for you.

I new that was not the right word... we call them 'mocasines' in Spain, so I just translated literally... lol

The ones you've shown look more like loafers to me than moccasins. Moccasins have a higher vamp, or not? I'm confused about the terminology...
I don't have a pair, but I think I'd like to get a pair like the ones you linked to. What styling problems do you think you have? I would wear this kind of shoe with everything I'd wear ballet flats with.

I don't know Astrid, maybe it's because I have quite slim legs and I'm not tall (ok, maybe I am just short lol) that I feel chunky shoes overpower me a bit, but I do need a chunky, higher vamp shoe for my feet. The times I've tried loafers on, I didn't quite like them on me, but I think I'll have to keep trying them on

Yes, keep trying! I think you'll find a pair you like somewhere.

I think they look best with ponte type pants (very thick leggings). Think Audrey Hepburn!

I have a pair of cranberry patent loafers, and I like them best with skinny or slim-legged jeans. I get compliments on me whenever I wear them.

I worried for years that chunky shoes didn't work for my skinny ankles and slim feet, but now I actually like them because I feel like they balance out the visual weight of my hips and thighs a bit.

Moccasins vs Loafers
