Contemplating NAS coats - YouLookFab Forum

By searching for catalog numbers, and then poking around on the Nordie's website, I was able to do some finds for coats.

The first two finds- the red double-breasted Avec Les Filles, and the gray/blue Sam Edelman double-faced wool blend check a lot of boxes for length, and being different from my single-breasted black wool coat. I'm definitely looking forward to trying those two.

Of the others, the Theory wool/cashmere and the Vince double-faced wool blend look gorgeous, but I'm a bit concerned that they don't appear to be lined. Have any of you had experience with higher quality, but unlined coats? I'm mostly concerned about the coat losing it's shape, but perhaps I shouldn't be.

The EF alpaca/wool blend, Sam Edelman single-breasted, and Kenneth Cole double-breasted are all on my list to try, if they show up at my local store. They're *almost* what I'm looking for, but either a bit short, or might not be available in the colors I want.

I know a bunch of us are looking for coats. Anyone else seen anything enticing?

I do think there is a really nice selection of coats. I am not needing one myself, but hope you and others will find the perfect coat. Keep us posted. I love seeing what everybody else selects.

Aren't you clever! I like them all. But the proof is always in the pudding. Must see in person to check handle, quality and fit.

The mustard Halogen coat is just the silhouette that I want - but I want it in RED or TURQUOISE. Light blue and pale pink are good too.

The red coat is the wrong shape. It MUST have side entry pockets and fit more cocoon than man-coat, for my own needs. Might be fab for you though.

I like the red one too, but don't want to buy a coat 5 + months ahead of when needed! I'd be a bit afraid an unlined coat would itch more, that would be my main worry.

Those are really lovely coats. I like wool coats in theory but run too cold and it doesn’t work for my life. I’ve given away all but one of my wool coats including a lovely Burberry from nas about 5 years ago which got worn maybe 4 times total.

I’m in the market for a very very warm puffer. I’m looking at the Canadian goose Kensington

bridgie- You're so kind. I do love the camaraderie of NAS, and seeing so many people try on the items and compare notes. I completely agree with your sentiments. I look forward to it every year, no matter what I buy.

Angie- Thanks for pointing out the pockets on the red one. Yes, I need side entry, too. Oh well, I might still try it on, if only because the color is perfect for me. The SE double-faced one does have the right pockets, but it looks a tad stiff in the video, so we'll see. I haven't found any Halogen coats (yet), but the SE single-breasted one (yellow/gold/mustard in the finds) does appear to come in a pale blue. Super cute, but probably not quite as long as I want.

suntiger- I LOVE colder/temperate weather, and could happily shop for only fall/winter/early spring:). Yes, another concern about unlined coats- itchiness. And, I'm worried about my sleeves getting caught on the fabric.

bj1111- Hope you find the perfect puffer! (I contemplate one every fall, but have yet to take the plunge.)

JAileen- I noticed that other people were collecting items, so tried to figure out how to do it. Last year, I thought the online catalog had a feature that would bring up the details in a separate window, but it's not working that way (at least for me) this year. Good luck searching!

These are beautiful! I must be feeling the need for color because I love the yellow one and the rusty orange one - so pretty!

RobinF- Agree, about color! I’m looking for red or blue, and open to a wide range of shades from watermelon to a deep cherry, and pale blue to darker teal. For shape, I’m hoping for wrap, perhaps shawl collar, swing, cocoon, or similar, for easy layering underneath. And the double-breasted ones caught my eye, since they’re different from my current coat.

I have an unlined double faced cashmere coat that is beautiful to wear. It is lightweight and warm. My cashmere coat has not lost its structure, but mine is a European label PAUW, so not sure if the coat you are looking at will be the same.

Bijou- thanks so much for your insights. Clearly this will also depend on the quality of the materials and construction.

I’m hoping for something like last year’s Pendleton hooded wool duffle coat - I need to replace my old hooded coat with something similar and warm (I don’t do puffers so wool duffles are my casual coat option).

Diana- Love the idea of a duffle..hmm, might have to add this to my list to consider. I hope the perfect one shows up for you.

I like your picks. I too am hoping to find a coat in a color- I was thinking red or light blue but I like the mustard too. I also hope to find a nice casual coat/jacket. I can’t wait!
