Consignment moto: stalk/forget?

Via Spiga, currently $219. Non-returnable.

A bit blingy but ok. Sturdy leather, much thicker than taupe Halogen. Sleeves long on my arms, of course, but not too bad for me. How's the black as a potential aging color? Do I look like the proverbial mutton?

As someone who has just purged at least 4 jackets I bought on consignment, I say leave it. Save your money for something perfect.

Well I'm no expert but to my eye, this jacket fits well (other than the sleeves being a bit long). I love it both undone and done up equally and I think the gold hardware is gorgeous. It's also a fairly classic moto style that I think will wear well for seasons to come - not so trendy that it will be dated quickly, you know?

Thanks, Shannon. I am absolutely not asking for yesses or "permission" to buy this, but if I'm not going to keep trying on the same type of "wrong" jacket it would be helpful to know what the objections are. I would barely even give a thought to sleeve length at this point. Last time with the Halogen, everyone preferred the non-petite, longer size anyway so I give up in that regard.

But having a pic taken from the back is a reasonable request. The fit felt pretty good. I would not be layering anything bulky underneath.

The fit looks really good to me from the front, and I like the jacket.

I have a bad history of buying at no-return consignment shops and have banned myself. You may be more immune to cheap goggles though.

I like the fit, tho the sleeves are long. It's not a *pretty* jacket, if you know what I mean. It's a tough one, stylewise. I was thinking you were maybe going prettier these days.

I say leave it just due to the no return policy. That's a lot of pressure to decide in the store. Maybe if it goes on sale!

I like it. A lot. It looks like you could actually wear it on a motorcycle (hence, the long sleeves and thick leather). It looks like a good fit and good quality.

BTW, are you wearing a bike helmet? I guess you could wear it on a bicycle...

Haha, good eye, JAileen. I'm wearing a bicycle helmet because I biked into downtown and it's easier keeping it on my head.

Rachy, (good lord, auto spell tried to give me tachycardia for that), I am not sure which direction I'm bumbling toward myself. I do see the point on pretty--more like I'm concerned that I'm not delicate-featured and feminine enough looking to balance a masculine look. That would be a concern.

For $210 definitely not. If you have to ask then you are unsure. Use that money towards something that when you put it on you know that you love it. It was too big on you.

I popped in earlier but was not able to reply. I think the fit looks good and it looks more classic than some motos. But I always worry about the no return thing, and as someone who has bought too many consignment jackets that turned out to be sub-par, I worry a wee bit.

I think you said it yourself when you said "a bit blingy but OK" and "non returnable." I don't think it's bad, but it doesn't wow me. I think you were right to move on -- there are a lot of fab black leather jackets out there!

I think it's a little pricey for that particular brand used.... Unless you love it dearly which I am not hearing in your voice (maybe you are holding back to not influence the comments?). For me, the fit and color are good but nothing special, especially after seeing how good you look in your current jackets n blazers.

I do like it....it's not a must-have, but at the right price I could see it coming home with me...but unlikely to happen at Second Time around. The best that could happen would be going on 50% off. I'll check in from time to time. It was a nice jacket. It's actually not easy to get a jacket with a good fit for me. But yes, since I can't return I have to be clearheaded about it. Thanks again for all your advice.

I'd look on eBay for that size and style. As Rae says, Via Spiga shouldn't be that pricey on resale.

Thanks for your pointer, rae and ironkurtin. I just found the jacket online (though it's not available, but I could see examples of pricing). Totally unsurprising if you're familiar with Second Time Around, they are not offering any deals.

Right - agree that for that price you must compare it to all the other motos available on ebay. Don't think it is the best you can do. Noticed and approved of your helmet though.

If you look on ebay it's likely just under via Spiga, leather, coats and jackets. You may have to look for a while but in my experience everything turns up on eBay eventually.
