My goal for this year’s NAS was an all purpose but stylish coat for the rainy and fairly mild winters here in the PNW. That can be a tall order.

I ordered so many coats! And am surprising myself by keeping two. Online, the North Face Apex Bionic Grace coat didn’t look like much, but in person it is a trim fitting, comfortable coat. I like that the hood is removable, since I often prefer to wear a hat. It’s soft, flexible, and a beautiful shade of blue. It has a buckle detail at the waist if you need to cinch it in. Normally, I’d need a Medium to accommodate my chest, and then the rest of the coat would be looser than I like—this time, a small fit perfectly with room for my chest in a sweater. (Sorry for my dirty mirror in the photos!)

The other coat is less of a slam dunk for the rain, but I love it. It’s lined, lightweight, fits perfectly, and the gray is a lovely color. The funnel collar is a favorite of mine. The price is fantastic, in my opinion. I saw the black version in the store and I didn’t think the fabric looked nearly as nice as it does in the gray, FYI.
