Clyde pants by ES - YouLookFab Forum

I've been coveting these Clyde pants from Elizabeth Suzann for some time, however the price tag and wait time held me back. I was also pretty sure the cut would be disastrous on my ample apple frame. Then this pair popped up on a resale site earlier this week. They're two sizes down from my normal size, but the measurements looked promising.

I opened them last night and threw them on with the tshirt I was wearing. Surprisingly they didn't poof out under my belly, if anything they were too baggy in the thighs. This morning I styled them for work and I'm pretty pleased.

I am contemplating dying them, but I'm not sure what color, maybe a nice fawny brown. I'll hold off to see how sloppy I am in them first. I'm also contemplating hemming, so I don't have to always wear them rolled. I think longer tapered pants are a poison eye for me.

This is super cute. Fab with the shoes. I like the colour - but you'll probably feel more you in a less bright neutral.

I think so too, Angie. I think I'll wear them this color through summer and then dye them when the weather cools in fall. I think this weight in a mid brown could be a 4 season pant in my climate.

I like this outfit very much. I love all the neutral colors shown, but of course, you must like the colors too. Good idea to try original first before dyeing.

I like the color, but more to the point, these look fab on you at this length. Great look, especially with the shoes.

They look sooo good! Personally, I like the rolled cuff at the bottom. And the way you've styled them is great, esp the sandals. You could easily keep them this color, but I appreciate how much lower-maintenance a darker neutral is.

I like them, I like the tapered hem that reins in the volume.
Remember if you dye : the stitching is probably made of polyester and will stay white, the result might look weird.

Thanks for the comments and feedback. One day in them and I'm pretty smitten. I'm already thinking how much I'd like them in navy linen too. I'll sit on my hands for a while though.

Skylurker, good point on the thread. I'll ask the maker before I commit to dying.

I like them as they are.
I agree with Skylurker re the dyeing - I wouldn't risk it either - most manufactures use polyester thread these days (although I have read about ES who may do things differently).
I dabble with fabric dyeing (mainly thrifted items, so the 'mistakes' don't cost a lot) + many times the experiments are more than successful.

Totally fabulous Traci!! Love how you've styled them. Don't know if you've washed/dried them yet, but they will shrink a little in length. My pairs are the Tall length, and I don't have enough length to roll.

I have not found this linen to stretch much with wear either. I hope you get loads of enjoyment!

They are fabulous. Is there a reason you want to die them? They look so nice in that color.

Sterling, I think I would find them more versatile in a medium color. However, going into my second day wearing them, I'm wondering if duplicating them in a second color and fabric would make more sense.

I'm afraid I'm going to get them messy or stained, especially in winter when I can't seem to stop brushing up against my dusty dirty salty car. A couple of years ago I didn't wear any white or ivory, but it's been coming back into my closet since last summer. Maybe I'll keep them this color. We'll see!

Isn't it a nice feeling to find an item that feels right and looks great. I think they are great the color they are and the shoes are very complementary.
