When I go in the city, or travel by train to visit my folks, I'd like to have a generous tote that is a bit fabber than my blah black woven messenger bag with the webbed strap. At least it black, and it has lots of pockets, but it's certainly nothing special.

I saw this bag in the store and love its size and appearance, and the fact that it is extremely lightweight and has an adjustable strap. What it doesn't have is a spot for a water bottle. As a singer I'm a stickler about hydration, and I hate to buy and carry around water.

Would you overlook it's lack of bottle slot, 'cause it looks so good. OR would you keep looking for a travel sort of tote that had room for a bottle, and perhaps converts from crossbody to backback. It would likely be a bit more sporty in appearance.

Going to go grade math, then I'll check back in!

I really like the style of the bag, but if you have hesitations (which I believe you do) I think you should hold off for a more functional option, especially since it is for when you're out and about. You know your needs and I don't think this meets them, unfortunately, as beautiful as it is.

Why does it have to be so hard to marry form AND function? A nice looking bag with a water bottle holder shouldn't be a HEWI, haha.

i would over look the bottle holder, and get a water bottle with a tight lid/cover. then you can just throw the bottle in the bag

Agree w/ kk. AMR that most gorgeous totes wouldn't have this feature? I put water bottles in my tote:-)

I'd just put the water bottle in the tote and make sure the lid's tight. But if the lack of dedicated water bottle pocket bugs you, it bugs you, and you should hold out for the right bag.

Well, I decided not to be rushed by a sale. As we all know BR runs sales like this periodically. I'll think it over a bit.

I do love and recommend the bag however. A good looking tote with strap, good size, and lightweight construction is tough to find.

I say yes - lightweight and stylish! I think that is very hard to find. I recommend a contigo metal water bottle - so far mine has never leaked and I throw it right in my bag. Added advantage is that is remains cool all day.

It looks really nice, but it sounds like a water bottle sleeve is a must have for you, so I'm glad you gave it a pass.

I find it so hard to imagine how bags will work without seeing them in person, even with measurements. I've recently rediscovered eBags, which often has videos of their items, which helps me a lot.

Beth Ann I am glad you didn't pull the trigger. While that's a beautiful bag, as a former singer for me not having a water bottle holder would be a deal breaker for what you described.

I see you passed for now. I like the bag personally. My concern about holding out for a water bottle holder would mean a less stylish bag - more like gear or (aack!) a diaper bag (at least the plain uncool one I used to have ). But I'm not really up to date on the latest bag offerings, at least you don't feel pressured. BR always has sales,

Jackie: Ah yes, it's been almost a decade since I burned my diaper bag. I share your fear. Worse, however, would be water leaking onto my phone, or the iPad, or music. I did lose some valuable out of print music once due to a leaky water bottle.

Glory: When your post came through (ping), I was standing in front of a display of Contigo water bottles in Kohls. Too funny! They were sold out, however, so I'll have to check them out later.
