This is an article about the fashion photographer John Rawlings who worked for
Vogue in the '30's. He's credited with introducing fashion looks on movie stars
and celebrities. The article is loaded with pix.
I have no interest in seeing red carpet wear. Or maybe it's today's red carpet wear.
I'm partial to a dignified awards look but OTOH I do like the confectionary Marchesa
looks.
What I really want to see are the candids of celebrities just living their lives - though how candid can any shot be when they know they're going to be photographed and perhaps plan their outings accordingly for publicity. I also am interested in their
dressy daywear - very hard to glimpse. Perhaps not enough awards are given
out at charity luncheons.
The reason I like the "ordinary" clothes is that my own relationship to clothing is
very cinematic/role playing. I don't ever really feel the clothes are "me" but part of
a dress up game I'm playing.
