C/E cropped straight-leg jeans

In an attempt to try a new denim style, I ordered these Current/Elliot jeans Angie recommended recently. I didn't have high hopes for them (Angie's notes included a comment that there is not a lot of room in the thighs), but I thought no harm in trying, right?

Well, to my surprise, they're not bad. I wish the wash was maybe a bit more uniform to avoid that light patch on my thighs, but I think that is less obvious IRL than in the low light of these photos. The fit is actually pretty good. A little big in the waist, but that's typical.

I've thrown on a bunch of different shoes with them here. I don't wear jeans much in the heat of the summer, so these would have to transition into fall and spring stylings.

What do you think? Worth keeping? Are they JFE? I know I don't have the easiest body type to make these work, but they do appeal to me. They're on a good sale, so not a big investment for a trendy item. But will they be trending well into next year too? My guess is yes, but I welcome all opinions.

I really love the frayed hem on these and think they look fun! I love them with the higher shaft booties of 5/6, and also with the sandals in 1. Seems they all work though. I like 'em

I find them very flattering! Love them with all footwear except boots in 3 and 4 which do not work quite as well to my eye. I vote keep and wear lots!!

I know it's tough to find the perfect jeans, I struggle too, but if they're comfy and you think you'll get lots of wear, I say go for it ☺

Another yes vote. I like them best in 1/2, 7/8 and 9/10 where there is more ankle showing. To me they are more of a warm Fall and warm Spring pant.

I am a yes too. I don't think sizing up would work as you might have too much fabric in the crotch area. I think the fit is great. They aren't loose but also not snug enough to get the bum flattening effect.

Way better than JFE in my opinion. I even like the fading. I know you have commented about having gained a few pounds Janet, but it definitely doesn't show at all if you have. You look slim and fit.

I love them, Janet! (Although beware my enthusiasm: I just brought home a pair of (flared) cropped jeans, so maybe I am talking to myself??? haha). I especially love them with all the non-sandal shoes/boots (3 and on) -- which may just be because I am emotionally done with summer. I hope they will still be on trend (maybe end of trend though) next year, and I think they will be -- they only just caught on to the mainstream this season.

Definitely keep. They look great on you, and they are a fun new shape.

Wow, I really like these and I didn't think I would. I have no idea if they will still be on trend next year, but if they are I think I will try this style next spring. (I have a hard time with skin-baring styles once the temperature drops, which will be fairly soon around here.)

Oh, I love them on you! I had also been eyeing these, as I think they are a lot of fun, but wasn't at all sure about fit and sizing. But if they fit you.... (what size did you order? )

Thanks for all the great feedback so far! I am liking them, and would be tempted to wear today if it weren't going to be another 90+ day here (hopefully the last one for a long while!). I ordered a pair of cropped Topshop jeans to try as well, so we'll see what they look like when they arrive, but so far, I'm inclined to keep. I wouldn't want a size up -- I can already feel these loosening as I wore them, and any larger and I'll have the baggy bum and crotch thing going on, but likely without any more room in the leg.

Elizabeth, these are 30s -- a bit big in the waist on me but otherwise a comfortable fit.

They look great on you! You have the best footwear collection too - and i love the jeans with the booties in ..... now I can't go back and click to make sure or I'll lose what I've typed here so never mind . Anyways, they work with all of these shoes. I really want these jeans, and am so envious they are available at such a great price for US consumers. CE never seems to go on sale here, and if it does, it's still up near the $200 mark. Ugh. I think these will have enough longevity trend-wise that you won't regret the purchase.

Fabulous, Janet. I have these and am wearing them today. I sized down though, so make sure they do not fall off.

I hands down prefer them best with LIGHT footwear so #1 and #7.

The jeans look great on you! I also have those jeans and had similar reservations at a first, but I just love them. I haven't worn them yet because I generally don't wear jeans in the summer but today the temps seem to be cooling off a bit and I'm sure I'll be wearing them in the next week. And I love your shoe collection. Those loafers with the animal print inset are especially fab! I might need to have them.

Thanks, everyone! I didn't expect such overwhelming approval but I'm glad to see it. They felt good! I seriously would have worn them today if it was 15 degrees cooler.

I confess, I am really liking them with the ankle-baring shoes like the leopard print insert loafers. Depending on what I wear on top, I feel like those shoes help balance me out somehow. I realize this goes against what you liked the most, Angie, but I agree, I also really like the look with light footwear too.

So funny, I just ordered them too, after seeing them in shevia! I love that hem and have been stalking a raw edge like that for a few months... Nasty Girl had a cropped wider leg but out of my size. I'm concerned now if the legs are slim tho! Can't wait for them to arrive!
