Cashmere sweaters

What are your favorite brands? As I work over my closet, I've been putting most of the cashmere sweaters into the donate bag. Most are years old and either have shrunk or else I have grown. Probably the latter.

I received a catalog for cashmere by Pure Collection. Anyone familiar with this brand?

Maybe I should just go back to Land's End.

I second the Boden cashmere. I love their pullovers and cropped cardigans in cashmere. Great color selections & quality.

I bought the $100 Everlane crew neck pullovers, which are my winter tee shirts. Second year and they still look and feel great.

Shevia - yes! when I think of the quality of cashmere I used to wear all the time, and now can't seem to find for any price...

Thanks everybody for the suggestions. After getting my heart broken so many times (scratchy cashmere! the horror!), I may venture out again.

I ve actually had good cashmere from Gap and banana republic seems thicker than some other brands.

I bought a cashmere cardigan from Ann Taylor a few years ago that is very good quality. It is thick, soft and rarely pills. I do occasionally use a sweater comb on it but it looks great. I have two cashmere cardigans from years ago that are still in very good shape. Perfect shape actually. One is from True Character (no find) and is dark chocolate brown. The other is from Magaschoni and is golden chocolate brown. They are both soft and have zero pills. None.

I am thinking more now about alpaca. Very soft and warm.

Last year I bought a nice thick Vince cashmere pullover late in the season. Sadly it is already showing pilling after about 8 wears. Do not recommend that brand for cashmere. Like Shiny I have abandoned cashmere for merino wool.

The shipping is sort of outrageous but the best cashmere I've been able to find at my price point (especially when it's on sale) is from Garnet Hill. I don't comment often (it's been years I think!) but the Garnet Hill cashmere turtleneck is the closest I've come to replacing a beloved hand-me-down from my mom. Related to that, agreed on the comment about vintage. My mom bought the cashmere turtleneck in Italy 35 years ago. We both wore it often, and it's still beautiful. It's finally stretching out and getting holes at the sleeves and neck, but no pilling.

No cashmere for me (or other animal hair for that matter), never found one that didnt itch, but those club monaco ones looked fun!

I'm about to order a Boden cashmere. Just have to decide on the colors.

25 years ago I bought my first cashmere turtlenecks on my first trip to London. They were Harrods and they lasted and lasted and didn't itch, but obviously I was much younger then. When my cat, who liked to draper herself around my neck while I was sitting, snagged it I was able to repair it and keep wearing it.

That same cat gave me a lovely case of poison oak later when I was talking on the phone--neck, arms, even my belly. I still loved her.

FashIntern suggested a brand called Kinross and pointed me to some at the Rack, which I ordered and so far so good.
