Can you have too much of a great color?

It's no surprise I like berry purple. But is there a point of over saturation? Or should one gather their rosebuds while ye may??

Offhand, I have a cardi, shorts, dolman sweaterdress, swirl print DVF wrap dress, tee, silk shell, ribbed tank, and slingback pumps in this color. It is one of my few designated colors in my palette, along with red, blush, blue and olive green (which I guess is a neutral but I treat it like a color).

Hmmm....I have the same tendancies. I've been through a berry purple phase, kelly green, teal...red once upon a time. It's unintentional, but somehow turns into my "neutral" of the moment. It does get kind of embarrassing when I will notice that I have my top, socks, purse and even sunglasses all the same color. That's when I tend to move on. But repeat.

I should say though, that I still have a lot of these pieces and just try to avoid wearing too much of it on consecutive days....

And I don't think you could go wrong with that dress.

I think berry purple could just be considered your signature-color-of-the-moment. The other colors you mentioned are either really classic (red & blue), or function as neutrals (blush & olive). I wouldn't stress. When I was wearing a lot of turquoise, it was nice that I had a bunch of ways to repeat the color in an outfit if I wanted to.

I vote nay. You can never have too much of a color that looks great on you. Berry is a great color. I think I read somewhere that Pantone's "Beujolais" looks great on everyone. I even bought lipstick in this shade and I'm a blonde who prefers fleshy pinks.

I've gone on Kelly green kicks and navy blue kicks. When I was in high school, I declared mint green as my signature color. It's not the best color on me, but I had a lot of it back then.

Sounds like you have a capsule of berry purple Given that you don't have many colours & you love it; isn't a problem imo.

Well I vote you cannot have too much of a color you love!! But, hey, I am the princess of darkness and most of my wardrobe is black. But think of it this way, that leaves my share of berry purple for you!!

Okay, following the irrational pull sounds like the right course. Kind of like zippers . . . 20 years now and I've yet to find a (silver) zipper I didn't like lol.

I just remembered I have my handbag and the shoes in my profile pic in this color, too. But some of them are going on 3 years, so it's not a passing fancy. Maybe dominating my closet, but not a one night stand!

I just ordered this myself last night. I couldn't resist the color. It may wind up going back if it doesn't fit but sheesh... is that not a gorgeous & cheery color for a trench???

Well… Berry is your signature color, and it looks stunning on you. I don't think you are at saturation point yet, especially if it still makes you happy to add a few more key pieces in that shade. It is all about enjoying what you wear.

Haven't read the responses, but I'm going to say that it depends. It's one thing to have, say, five tops all of the same color, but it's another thing to have one top, one bottom, one scarf, one pair of shoes, and one tank. They perform different functions. Also, this doesn't even take into account seasonal differences. If you have seasons (but maybe you don't really have too many seasons!), you can get away with more.

It's good to see you *enabled* here! I'm having the same "problem" with cobalt blue, and I must admit that I'm pleased to see people don't see it as an issue!

Could this be a version of....Radiant Orchid? You could call it your signature color like E said and wear it as much as you want. It would be your neutral. Off hand I can't think of another color that wouldn't work with it.

That dress looks brilliant for you. And no, you can't have too much of a colour that is fab on you in a shape/ item type that is sure to get ton of wear. A casual dress for hot weather with your lifestyle? It's a slam dunk.

I love it, too, by the way, and feel very tempted. Berry pink happens to be one of my favourite/ most flattering colours also. And I do think it's a cousin of radiant orchid.

Shiny, I almost ordered that coat myself! But I read some reviews that said it would only work on the busty, and I am not. I will be eager for your review.

Writing here from a part of the country where rosebud-gathering weather is eons away, I'd heartily encourage you to gather those gorgeous berry rosebuds while you may! And I think the O.N. dress has your name all over it.
