My n-th thread today, sorry. I promise to slow down

I like these and they had them in the longest length available so I ordered a pair. Even the 36" inseam is hit-and-miss, some can work, so it was worth a try.

They arrived today and they are 1 inch above the ground, i.e. not PPL. They are straight in style, btw. I feel deflated. These can still be worn with the boots, right? But, could they somehow be made to work any other way?

In terms of non-boots footwear, I have taupe oxfords and black lace-up oxford booties.

I am in love with the pocket detailing and would want to keep these regardless of my jeans situation bordering desperate. And the fabric is beautiful. I really, really want to make these work. Any styling ideas?

Is there any way the seam can be let out even a little bit, Ornella, it can make a difference...

I bet these jeans will look fab with your black lace-up booties too, in fact with any bootie or ankle boot: you'll have a nice bit of scrunch, which I love.

Have you tried rolling them up to mid-calf (maybe there's too much fabric, but worth a try)? That way they might work with the taupe oxfords as well.

Wait, are these bootcuts or not? Bootcuts and wide legs need to be PPL, but straight legs really don't have the capability of being PPL since the foot makes them scrunch. The photo makes them look like straight legs. . .

Well they would show off cute shoes/booties nicely. The ankle looks very tapered, so it might look okay. Obviously tucking into any boot is a good option.

Inge, not at all. I check the inner hems first, it's my second nature.

They are straight, btw. And not much scrunch left when I put them on.

I had a feeling you would have the hems covered:-) (I do the same thing with all my trousers and jeans)

OK, and if you try "leaning" the hems on the opening of your booties and ankle boots (I'm not explaining this very eloquently, sorry). Because they are straight legs I think you might be able to get some extra scrunch that way?

Also: do post a pic of you wearing them with the oxfords.

I think 1" above the floor would work for straight legs, especially with flat shoes. No possibility of pictures?

Really really want to make them work? You can have the side seams taken in a tiny bit to make them a little bit closer to a skinny, which would definitely work at 1" above the floor. (Thought I'd throw that out as an option.)

Isabella, I am 1.82m or 6ft2. And I have very high waist. This means 36" inseam is my minimum jeans length and I have a pair of bootcuts with 38" for higher heels.

kcs, tapering the hems may not work because it would show on the hem too much. I can't quite explain but the side hem reminds me of the old Levi's 501 and you could easily be able to tell from which point such hem is tapered.
