I like PB or Cream Cheese & Jam on a whole wheat english muffin. Yum. Also, more props for almond milk - I drink unsweetened and find the slightly nutty flavour preferable to cow's milk.

I am really boring. Multigrain Cheerios and I add slivered almonds plus either blueberries, strawberries, or cranberries. No milk. I like my cereal dry. But I usually have hot coffee or tea with breakfast.

Lately I've been using a pancake mix (found a recipe on pinterest for making your own mixes) and add some squash and carrot puree (previously cooked, pureed, and frozen in small ziplocks that can thaw quickly in the sink) and some cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and chocolate chips. My boys are pretty fond of this breakfast. It's a weird combo I suppose but it's very similar to my grandma's pumpkin chocolate chip cake so tastes good.

I have a raisin bran muffin recipe that I like. I make it in a loaf pan and slice it into 12 slices and freeze half. I'll eat one for breakfast, and another later as a snack. I also like half an English muffin or a half bagel with peanut butter and jam. And coffee with milk!

On weekends, I pull out the stops with pancakes or french toast, and bacon.

When I travel and eat out, I almost always have a poached egg!

FWIW I spread my food across the day, really having 6 mini meals.

I think my all time favorite breakfast is toast with peanut butter and honey. I've also been known to put peanut butter and honey in my oatmeal. One of my co-workers produces/farms organic honey and I prefer it over commercial honey because it doesn't seem as sweet. I also use natural peanut butter. Something about the mix of these items is very satisfying to me and is quite easy on my stomach.

Or, I do what Suz mentioned and eat leftovers for breakfast! Especially on days when I know I'm going to be busy.

When I was expecting breakfast was a tough go. But a cup of black tea and bagel worked well. I had to eat my dairy and fruit much later in the day. So bagel at 6am and yogurt and berries about 9:30 or 10. (I also couldn't eat meat for several months but that's another post)

Hope you feel better soon

Wow lots of great breakfast ideas here! On the weekends I eat a bigger breakfast which ranges all over the place, but often includes hard fried eggs. For weekdays, I make a green smoothie because I have trouble getting enough fruit otherwise. I make mine with: 1 banana, 2 handfuls of various frozen-in-season fruits I sliced up before (today was grapes and peaches!), 1 handful of frozen blueberries (we pick and freeze these in season), 1/3 cup nonfat greek yogurt, 2/3 cup extra pulpy orange juice, and 2 big handfuls of fresh baby spinach.

Coffee first, cream only. Next up - organic cereal with almond milk, and a smoothie made in the Nutrabullet: spinach or kale, 1/2 banana, fruit, flax or chia seeds, water. The smoothie is extremely filling and keeps my belly happy until lunch time.

If I have no time and can plan ahead I'll make baked egg muffins up ahead of time. Another good one is apple slices dipped in peanut butter. Remember, this doesn't have to be breakfast foods. Try sliced turkey rolled up in a tortilla which can be topped off in a million ways--I like goat cheese and spinach or pico de gallo.

I absolutely need protein in the morning or I won't be able to function later.

I am a creature of habit so unless I'm going out for breakfast I always have wholemeal toast with :
Avocado and tomato or
Sliced banana or
Boiled eggs mashed with a little bit of mayo and whole grain mustard
And a cup of tea

I usually have homemade granola with fresh strawberries and milk. Obviously the milk doesn't work. My other favorite breakfast is soft boiled eggs over torn up sour dough toast. I like the yolks runny, and the toast very darkly toasted. No butter, no salt, only pepper.

Hope you feel better soon!

Trying to figure out the foods that can be consumed early morning while pregnant is tough! Sorry I can't help as I was a big dairy person. I think generally foods that are bland tend to go down easier with a more substantial snack mid morn.

Thistle, I'm holding thumbs that you've found some new breakfast ideas here that will work with the nausea.

Diana, I would love it if you could post your granola recipe!

Great ideas here! I eat Raisin Bran most mornings. Some mornings I'll make a bagel sandwich with a scrambled egg and slice of lunchmeat (usually ham). I also like yogurt, fruit and granola. Like Diana I usually make my own granola. Oh, and oatmeal, I really like oatmeal. On the weekends when I have more time, I make steel cut oats, but during the week I just make the instant packets.

Mo - I make toast with the center cut out for a light dinner. I call it Eggs in a Basket and it's one of my kids' favorite dinners. I use cookie cutters to cut out the centers in different shapes.

Here you go, Inge.

Super Crunchy Granola

3 c rolled oats
~1 c chopped raw nuts (I like pecans best)
1/4 c flaxseed powder or wheat germ
(optional) 1/4 c unsweetened coconut flakes

3/8 c maple syrup
3/8 c packed dark brown sugar
1/4 c vegetable oil
2 T warm water
1/2 t salt

(optional) 1/2 to 1 c dried fruit, chopped up if big, and/or dark choc chips

Preheat oven to 250F (120C) and cover a large baking sheet with foil. Use 2 sheets if you only have small ones.

Mix together oats, nuts, flaxseed powder, and optional coconut in a big bowl. In another bowl, mix together syrup, sugar, oil, water, and salt until the sugar is dissolved. Dump this on the dry ingredients and mix well. Spread it out on the baking sheet and bake until toasty. This usually takes 1 to 1.25 hours. Stir it once or twice during baking. It's done when the nuts taste toasty. it won't be super crunchy until its cooled all the way. I usually let it cool on the sheet overnight. Stir in the dried fruit if using only after its completely cool.

Lasts forever in an airtight container. (A ziplock bag works fine.).

Note there is NO honey in this recipe. I took it out because honey prevents the granola from getting crunchy. But if you like it chewier, replace the maple with honey. the flaxseed or wheat germ is essential for making it crunchy too.You can add spices like cinnamon if you like in the sugar mixture.

Diana, thank you so much for posting your recipe! I definitely like mine crunchy, so not using honey and adding flaxseed or wheat germ is such a good tip.

I am going to give it a try soonest. Yum!

Lots of great ideas here. I was fortunate to have no morning sickness both times but did find there were things I did not want to eat.
I always have a smoothie and coffee. I put whatever fruit we have in it (always an apple, grapes and banana and then strawberries, carrots, mango, pineapple...kale or spinach) I can generally get kids to have some which is a good thing. I like a hard boiled egg for protein or an egg mug (hungry girl has some great recipes for these) or egg white sandwich. Lately minibagel with cream cheese and lox.
I'm going to try Diana's granola this weekend!

Just wanted to say thanks to Joy. I have been trying out your "break soaking the night before French Toast" method all week. Helps make eating a slice of gluten free bread tolerable.
How are you going with the breakfasts Thistle. Are any of the suggestions helping?
