Bra fitting experience - YouLookFab Forum

Well, I’m a new woman after my bra fitting today!
On a suggestion from my friend, I booked an appointment for a bra fitting at the recommended lingerie boutique. Angie always tells us to start from finding a proper bra fit. And she is absolutely correct but I didn’t have high hopes. I actually had two fittings before - both about 9 years ago. A “consultant’ from Victoria Secret, who looked about 16 and had a corresponding experience was not very useful.

The second bra fitting I’ve done was at our Nordstrom, when it was still here. Pretty disappointing, it felt like a sales person was more interested in making a sale than in finding a proper fit for me.

Today I tried and bought an underwired bra. I haven’t worn one in years and was totally blown away at how comfortable it actually feels. Of cause, I ended up with a different size. I usually buy 34 DD but my new size is 32 DDD.

I still need to test it for a longer time but, wow! Looks good, too.
It feels like all the years I was cutting my own hair and then suddenly had a professional haircut
I now want to throw out all my old bras and buy new ones! But considering the costs, I will proceed slowly.

Have you had a professional bra fitting done? How was your experience?

I have had a couple of fittings over the years - it’s probably been 7-8 years since my last one . It did get me into my proper size but one should apparently be fitted every few years as the body changes . I will say that I’ve never come away with a bra I loved though and seem to spend 00’s of $ thinking my life will change . That said I’m in need of a couple of good new ones as I don’t love what I’ve been wearing the last 2 years ( Knix) . What brand did you end up purchasing ?

LJP, I bought Natori bra. It is not a new brand to me, I’ve worn it before but it has never been as good fitting bra as this one. Last 3 years I wore Knix bras. I like their comfort but I gained a bit of weight and I don’t love the shape they give me. I want more support. The boutique I went to today is actually specialty store for larger sizes.

I've had a couple of fittings but haven't had one for a long time. My first fitting surprised me, because like most women, apparently, I'd been wearing too large a band size and too small a cup size. But since then my size has not changed (yet). My fittings were all good in the sense that there was consistency. But one time the SA tried to sell me a bra in the supposed "sister" size because they did not have my size, and the "sister" size band was already loose on me, so I just walked away from that one. I've had to shop a lot for bras on line because my size is not easy to get in stores, even in the speciality stores.

Yes, I’ve had a couple of bra fittings. Similar to several other Fabbers, recommended band size was smaller and cup size bigger. I’m still wearing an underwire. Same design: two nude, one black, one red.

I've only ever had one, and it was at Nordstrom. The fitter was wonderful! First time I was ever happy with a bra. She fitted me in bras across several different brands. I bought several from very reasonable to expensive, Like many others, I was wearing a bra that was too big in the band and too small in the cup.

This was a number of years ago, so I probably need to get fitted again—either that or have a breast lift!

I think a fitting would be more economical. Depending on bra prices!
