I have been MIA for a long time, but the beautiful new site brings me back!
I went shopping yesterday for the first time in ages. I went a little bit crazy, but still within (long unspent) budget. My primary needs were fall clothing, suitable for in the office, as I am now required to come into the office at least once a week. Also I am attending conferences lately, so basically, I needed business casual pieces.
I was quite pleased with BR on this trip, so I am going to post a review of pieces I loved (and bought!). All these links are petites, because I'm petite:
1) Sloan fit flared pants:

I desperately needed dress slacks (I've lost weight; none of my dress slacks fit). These fit the bill! LOVE. I wore them today and put them through their paces. They did so well, I am going to get them in the gray too. These are ideal if you are a bit of an apple, need a rise with wider waistband that sucks all the jiggly parts in, and have not much of a butt or thighs. Like me.
2) Ruffle cardigan:

I couldn't resist the "Pacific" - which in my mind is "Teal" which happens to be one of my all-time favorite colors, and reminds me of the 80s. I have strong shoulder line and thought the ruffle would be overwhelming, but it somehow works. This is a thicker cardigan and I can see it keeping me warm through the deepest darkest Boston winter.
3) Merino colorblock cardi:

I love the colorblocking. This sweater is the reason why I hit BR yesterday. I love merino wool because it's so warm YET lightweight - no added bulk. Not to sound like a BR shill, but BR always does Merino just right. I still have Merino BR sweaters that are over 10 years old and still look like new. This one fits impeccably, buttons fall just in the right place, AND it's not overly long. It's just-right long.
4) Animal print cardi

I was going to resist this, as I already have way too many print cardigans. I am a sucker for them! But, this one was just .... way too luscious. It's a light weight that will work for spring and early fall. Again, the fastener (just one) hits just at the right place, below the bust. This is key for me, when it comes to cardis! And the print is fabulous - great for petites. Plus, the gray is a bluish-gray, for those of us that like cooler tones. I tried this on with a variety of tops, and I think it'll be quite versatile.
5) Luxe lapel sweater

I haven't been able to find a cascading cardigan that doesn't overwhelm me and make me look like a blocky linebacker. Until now! I don't know if it quite qualifies as a cascading cardi? Whatever... it's adorable. It works on me, proportionately. And it's thicker and warm and comfy as can be... this will work through deepest darkest coldest winter.
6) media Ruffle cardi:

I said no more tan/beige... but I just couldn't resist this one! It has that special "artsy" something I adore. I can't wait to wear this one. Yes, it comes in blue too, but that one was just ... I dunno. This one seemed to work better for some reason...
I know it's a lot of sweaters, but last fall/winter, I think I only found two or three that I liked, so this was very high on my list. I think I'm all set on the sweater front now!!!
