April, if you take the Acela to outside of Boston , I forget the name of the stop, I will gladly pick you up there on my way into Boston. I can drive you where you need to go.

Anybody can suggest which area of Boston to be close to the meetup place if I don't have a car? Boston and area are so big and don't know them at all!

Count me in. If this does not want some traveling on my part, I don't know what would. Little Zap is coming with me. I am running like a chicken without a head at the moment but I'll catch up. Thank you Diana for cueing me in!

Sveta, Boston is very easy to travel to/from and around with public transportation. I usually stay at the Long Wharf Marriot. It is super convenient. I won't have a car either.

ETA on Sunday 3/2: I just realized I sign up for a cakepop class the day after the meetup. I am going to find out train schedules to be sure I can make it back on time. Please mark me as tentative.

Bumping. I will send out a group email tomorrow (Monday) so please PM me by then if you are interested in being added to the list.

For those without cars, I can give rides. I have room for 4 people. If I have to, I can bring our old van that we use for camping trips and hauling kids around after school....not too fashionable and a soul-sucking beige color, but the windows are tinted so no one will be "seen" except me. LOL ! It is clean too.

That has room 6 people + me, the driver. You can PM me. : )

Oh wow. Sveta and Zap (and lil Zap) too. So fun. xo

I have ZERO knowledge of Boston. If I can swing it, are logistics to the meet up area easy enough that should I just buy a plane ticket to Logan and assume hotel/transportation will fall into place?
(I am a small town gal who upon exiting the plane should probably 'pump up' my body language as per the woman in Isabel's link in the OT thread.)

I am so jealous. Unfortunately, I'll be in boston 2 weeks prior to the meetup. Enjoy.

It's fun to read of your preparations.

Pil , hahahahahaha, if you start putting your hands in the air and chanting, " I CAN do this ! I CAN do this ! " it might attract TSA'a attention. : )

I am not sure where we are all meeting. I will PM Diana and ask. I can definitely vouch for the rides.

XXXXXXX

Diana,
Thanks for contacting me. I'm checking the train schedule (coming from Connecticut) and trying to figure out if I should arrive Friday night or late Saturday morning. I don't know Boston at ALL. Would need some logistics.... I am looking forward to the meet up!

Jen

Ooh, I'm still in Chile right now (but blessedly with a great wifi connection in a cafe that is also playing good music), but when I get home the day after tomorrow, I'll be looking at my schedule to see if I can make a train trip up. I'd love to see you all!

Unfortunately it looks like I cannot swing the Boston hotel cost at this time on my own. If anybody from out of town wants to share the room and cost please let me know. I need to know this by mid-week as I have to book my flights for the work trip very soon and need to know if I book it with the stay in Boston or not.

Yay! This is shaping up to be a great meetup!

I'm planning on sending out a group email later today so we can start planning in earnest and people can coordinate travel. No solid plans as to location but I am sure it will be Centrally located and close to the subway. Trains, bus, and planes all feed directly into the subway. No need for a car. I don't even drive!

Hi everyone,

I've just sent an email out to everyone who has PMed me so far. Please let me know if you don't receive it soon.

(Janet, I took the liberty of adding you to the list since I already have your email. Hope that's OK!)

It looks as if there maybe some out of towners coming in ! YAY !!!! Diana will be emailing all of us so we can start figuring out hotels and rides and such. Hotels in Boston can be very expensive, especially once you start throwing in food costs. And some charge by adult in the room. In the private emails, you can also let me and Diana know your budget. If Diana doesn't mind, I can look into accommodations as she is planning the day with Angie and GREG ! Let us not forget GREG !!!!! ; )

I want to throw out there, for thought, that there appear to be apartments for rent in Boston. I found some through VRBO ( Una Thank you AGAIN !!!!! ) . Some have minimum stays but we could probably convince someone to let us do a 1 or 2 night stay. This one is for 3 people, but we could sneak in more, I have sleeping bags and blow up mattress from camping. The pricer per night is $275. There would be a kitchen and a living room. The upside is that I could go check it out to make sure it is ok and safe. This is just one example.

WOW, I just saw the list. We may need a house !

OMG, Ladies, I have found THE place for us and it sleeps 10 AND it is floating in the harbor !!! Angie, Greg ?????

hahahahahahahahahaah

WOW. It's going to a huge gathering. EXCITING.

Isabel, we have a stunning apartment sorted via air B&B in South End, but thanks for checking.

Diana, you are extra fab. ((((HUGS))).

Sveta, maybe you can share the apartment with others as Isabel suggested?

Isabel, I am SOOOO totally into the sharing - hotel room, apartment , a hut in the woods, a place on the floor mat - anything to allow me to come and meet all of you!!!!
My head is spinning right now from trying to arrange a 3 way flight in a way that it is not more expensive than a regular flight so it gets approved at work so I don't have any brainpower left in me for any other logistics. If somebody can help me out with accomodations I would be ever so grateful!!!!

Fabulous Sveta ! I think that I may stay in the city on Friday night or Saturday with you guys. So that would be at least 4 of us sharing somewhere. I am a camping girl, so I am with you . A tent in the living room ( just for fun ) on a yoga mat in a sleeping bag - my type of fun. : )

Too bad, Angie doesn't need the houseboat. LOL ! ( Angie, I hope that you know I was kidding....though Sveta and I may end up there and kayak up the river to the meet-up. )

I'm still iffy on this working, but would totally need to share accomodations. Your brainstorming looks great so far, Isabel! And you do have a point about pumping myself up for the big city and a potential encounter with the TSA

This East Coast gathering is going to be so much fun and I just love reading along as you plan. Have fun and please share photos as the activities begin.

Bumping in case anyone hasn't seen this yet and wants to attend. Send me a PM with your email if you are interested.

I'm not sure I'll be able to make it, but I'd love to go! Diana, I'm going to send you my email.
