OK ladies- I need help determining which of these pair of boots are going to stay (although I already have a leaning).

pair #1- lighter pair on the left side of the picture are Clark's that I found at Ross
pro's- I like the lighter color and the footbed is really comfy.
con's- their is a little split at the top of the shaft that makes the top of the boot look gappy that I don't like, and the hardware isn't the brass that I prefer.

pair#2- are on sale at Target this week
pro's- sits flush against the top of my leg and has the brass hardware that I like.
con's- actually costs $5 more than the Clark's and not as comfy a footbed

So what do you think- #1 or #2?

I don't see all that much difference between them so I'd go for the pair that is more comfortable.

aesthetically, I prefer the sleek fit of the Target boots. But you do have to consider comfort.

Khris, I like the way the Target boots look and fit a little better, and I think you do too. But I'm not going to be walking/standing in them like you will have to. I didn't think the Clarks looked that gappy, but the Target ones fit you perfectly. Argh!

I think they are so similar you could pick either one. What's more important, fit or cost?

I think the Target ones look much better - but, I know comfort is really important - so . . . I'm not really any help at all!

How MUCH not comfier are the Target pair? I prefer their fit and the slightly darker color, but uncomfortable boots generally won't get worn.

The Target ones fit better around your calves, but I would probably go with the Clarks because they are more comfy and probably better quality.

Are you intending these for skirts, or for tucking jeans?

I'd go with the Clarks - I have not touched either pair of these, but Clarks have held up for me for years; and I'm worried Target boots may fall apart on you.

I'd go with the Clarks. I have two pairs of very comfortable Clarks boots that are 6+ years old and still look like new. The quality is obvious!

I say go with the most comfy pair, I don't think the clarks are very gappy at all. Both look good!

My Target Kayden utility boots have stood up to a LOT of abuse, but you're right that they are not the most comfortable boots in the history of boots. Do you have room to slip in an insole? Because I do prefer the fit of those over the Clarks.

I like the look of the Target boots better, but I would still vote for the Clarks in terms of comfort if these are the two options. I know a lot of people wear Target shoes without a comfort problem, but I can't do it.

Wow. Tough call.

One thing I must say, you are a brilliant shopper; these are very definitely in the same category. We're comparing apples to apples here. Except for the comfort factor that is. I very slightly prefer the toe shape of the Clarks, but prefer the calf fit of the Target.

Agree with Rae...can you do an insole?

Having said that, maybe there is a way to deal with the little gap on the Clark's? Because if there is, there's no question about the quality there.

The thing is- there isn't really a gap on the Clark's. There is a cut out notch at the top that flips out a bit. If I put the ends of the notch together, they meet and fit my calf just like the Target ones do. They just appear to have a gap because of the notch. At first it really bothered me, but the quality and comfort is really a big difference, and I prefer the color. The more I think about it, the more I like the Clark's (sorry Angie).

I like both. Maybe a cobbler could sew up the notch if it bothers you.

I really like the fit of the Target boots, but I imagine that the clark's are much higher quality. Perhaps a little bit of elastic across that notch to close it up would do the trick.

Another vote for sewing up the notch, the gap at the top is the only thing I don't like about the Clarks.

What Queen Mum said, but the Clarks would definitely hold up much better if you're looking for longevity for your $.

I prefer the fit of the Target boots, but Clarks makes really comfy shoes. Maybe worth getting an estimate from a cobbler on closing up the gap on the Clarks if you want all day, walking around all day kind of shoes.

LIke Rae, I thought of adding a nice insole to those Target boots for comfort. Some of the Dr. Scholl's insoles don't take up enough room to notice.
