Like Staysfit, the 90s was my fashion-free decade I was overwhelmed with pregnancies and nursing my babies. No fashion sense at all...I shudder when I see photos.

What a fun thread!!

I do remember a few of my 90s shoes. At the end of the 80s and early in the 90s, I wore Docs, which I loved. Mine were monk-strap brogues in black. Adored those shoes; I had a couple of different iterations of them. I also had a pair of lace up granny type booties (also black...hmmmm, Angie, I don't LOVE black shoes, honest -- it's just that they are practical!!). And I almost always have some type of chelsea boot and I'm sure I did then. This was also when I started wearing Blundstones. More love.

My dressy shoes (that I recall) were a really fun pair of Mary Janes that were reminiscent (to me) of the 20s -- they had a Louis heel that I loved. And a slightly squared off toe, but delicate. And they were charcoal grey, not black.

Oh I am glad I'm not the only one. I spent the first part of the 90's in law school, the middle part living in the east village and working in Soho (NYC) the last few years in Israel and I still cannot remember what shoes I was wearing for any part of that! Except for one pair of Franco Sarto heeled loafers - my big shoe splurge. I hope you are cracking up Angie :-)!

I know what I was wearing to work. . . These were my favorite boots.

Suz, I knew you'd remember. We may have had the same black monk strap Docs. EVERYONE wore black shoes in the '90s. It was extremely fashionable.

Jaime, at least you remembered the Franco Sartos. Good job.

Now THAT'S more like it, Sharon. Super cute.

I loved my 90s shoes. I've always preferred chunky shoes, though only certain types. I loved my first Doc Martens (10 hole, steel toe for even more chunkiness) and only sold them last year (for quite a bit!). In high school I had a horrid pair of army-surplus combat boots that smelled like tire rubber until I upgraded to the Docs. I wore Converse most of the time, either Chucks or One Stars. Back then all my shoe's were men's shoes except for a pair of chunky heeled mary janes I got for a school dance - those were pretty awesome. I wouldn't mind if that style comes back.

In middle school or early high school (early 90s), Bass oxfords, nubuck or suede, were the thing to have. It's been funny seeing those back in style among hipsters.

I was a teen for most of the 90s. Don't remember much of what I wore in the early 90s, but in high school I wore black oxfords, taupe suede Arizona Birkenstocks (sometimes with socks), and my Doc Martens (I think they were dark brown 1461s). In the late 90s, I was in college, and I remember wearing black slides, clumpy black sandals, Steve Madden black oxfords with a chunky heel (super comfy, got them reheeled twice), and a prized pair of black Chelsea boots I bought on a trip to London.

Yes...I wore some very black, very platform, velcro banded closure on top, flat shoes with square toes to some grey cotton(not denim!) AND elastane (new to me fabric back then), skninnies with verry fitted stretchy tops and no revere sportly(textured) blazers, ALL THE TIME. Loved the chunky footwear, as it made me look somehow slimmer...Just had to stop and think: I was slim for my frame back then, still chunky footwear made me look even slimmer!:-).
