Black pencil/tube skirt from BR worth a try

I think this black skirt from Banana Republic may work for some people. I know on Lisap’s thread this type of skirt was recommended. This one is a knit that came just above my knee, and I’m pretty tall. TTS, but fairly generous in sizing. It does come in a tall for those who like skirts longer. It seems like it could handle some weight fluctuation more than a traditional pencil skirt.

Just throwing it out there in case someone’s on the hunt.

Oh, delurked, thank you. The link showed me a great bouclé skirt that would make a great spring outfit with my boucle’ jacket.

Colette - the texture makes me think it could be dressed up or down quite well. It wasn’t as structured as a regular pencil skirt, which I preferred.

Lisap - I will throw a picture above. I have a tough time with black and pictures. Also, my angle for selfie does make the skirt look just slightly longer than IRL. But I’m off short skirts, and thought the regular could probably work for me, so the tall would definitely give you a couple more inches in length.

Joyce - I’m debating it. I was originally going to try it on in regular in the store to see if I wanted to order it in a tall. When I tried it I thought the regular size was nice, and I’m not sure if I’d like the tall more or less. Also, I had bought and returned a denim skirt from Talbots last week. I decided when I got it home it didn’t feel like me (plus, I didn’t like how it fit my stomach), but this skirt made me feel very nice.

The fabric is nice if it is the same as the tank. I have it in white. It would make a cute set with the skirt.

Colette - I kept with my usual size. Maybe some could go down, but I really wouldn’t want this style too tight on me. I live in a warm climate, and don’t think it will be too hot through the summer. For me it could work all year round.

Crst - it does look like the same fabric. I found it felt nice. Bet it would look good together.

Bijou - I got a striped skirt from Loft last year after trying and rejecting some other tube skirts. This is called a pencil skirt but has the same comfort level as the one I got.

Thanks Angie. It did feel like me, and I could see it in the workplace if you don’t need too dressy.

If I’m remembering correctly, it was a thinner weight without being super thin and showing too much IYKWIM. So it’s likely not a winter skirt for you or Colette, who have real winters.

Also I’ve had some success I’m ketting down skirt hems when there is texture to the fabric. My tailor can use most of the available hem by adding hem tape. But if the Tall has good length but fit is off, then tailor the fit.

And this seems s little odd—my BR website shows the tank is in NAVY and skirt in black. ??!

Unfrumped - Good to know. It was longer than I had expected. Maybe it depends a bit where it sits on the hip. The skirt is black. The tank looks to be the same fabric, but different colors. I remember Angie recommended a different top in this fabric too. I’ll take a look for it.
