Nada. I hate going near a shopping mall on any big shopping day.

We did go to a huge famous flea market and found wrought iron knobs and pulls for the ranch house kitchen -- $1 each. Score! We mostly walked around, looked at antiques, and people watched. That's a great way to spend Black Friday in my book.

I'm all shopped out and very happy with what I got during a weekend shopping trip to Toronto mid November. Having fun playing with what I've got in my closet.

I did have a NEED, though, to replace my gear style winter boots...the ones I use for serious trekking about in the snow, and outdoor chores (like shovelling said snow). Stayed away from the mall and favoured our independent downtown shoe store where I got 20% off. I did like the name of the 'Joan of Arctic', and the styling of the 'Carly', but the temperature rating of 'good to -32degC' sold me on these!

I didn't go anywhere - I'm not that brave/insane - but I do have a few items from the Nordstrom sale wishlisted online. I may get a thing or two tomorrow since it's double points day. I was struck, actually, by all the really big one-day discounts available online Friday, at places where I shop like BR, AT, Lands' End, Eddie Bauer, etc. I didn't really have any budget left for clothes this year, but I will keep it in mind for next year. If I had kept my fall clothes budget intact, I could have stocked up on a lot of needed items for 40-50% off. It's the first time Black Friday has held any interest at all for me.

My DD dragged me to Kohl's, where we found professional-looking outfits she needs for required volunteer work at local elementary schools (for Early Childhood Education program she's in at the university):

2 pairs pants, 1 skirt, 4 blouses & 1 blazer for under $215 including tax; and we we have $75 Kohl's cash to spend, which she is going to use this afternoon--hopefully to buy another pair of pants and/or a warm sweater.

We did not buy anything off the clearance rack, even though we did lookthere just in case. We were shopping for specific clothing, and were focusing on fit, need & mix/match versatility. Price was secondary, though we were thankful to find what she needed & was willing to wear at prices I was willing to pay.

Kudos to Kohl's for how they handled the crowd. The store was packed, and no shopping carts were available. The line was long, and we had to go to the very back of it. I was afraid we'd be standing there for hours, but checkout only took 30 minutes total (start to finish) thanks to the way Kohl's handled the lines. They had it roped off, with an employee standing there showing each customer which register to go to. It was very streamlined and efficient.

Oh my, I seem to have gone off the deep end with 'might as well try em'. I got white TR jeans off Amazon, the questionable suede/leather trousers from Asos (actually tried to cancel once I thought it through but was too late), and the TR moto leather panel jeans I really wanted from the start. That's $51, $72, and $181 respectively! I called the BF and told him not to be alarmed when the bill comes in; that I'm trying on designer jeans and many will go back. Whew. Gotta put the smoking credit card on ice ASAP.
