Beware of VB Striped Blazer

I'm a little worried about the VB jacket, actually. The more I see it on clients - the less I like it. I might not make it a top pick.

It doesn't fit as well as it should. Narrow sleeves, wider waist, and not pristine looking like in the pic. The sides don't lie flat, and the dicky isn't beautifully made. I tried on the size 0, and wasn't impressed with how it fit me. It was tight on the sleeves, puckering on the waist, pulling at the back, and wide on the waist. I expect it to fit like my Smythes - which it doesn't.

That said, order it if you love it. It might be much better on you, or I had an off size.

Thank you so much for the warning, Angie. I am pretty worried now, especially about the wide waist. I will pick up mine tonight and promptly share photos and impressions. If it is anything less then perfect, it will go back, as it has to be perfect at that price point.

So here is my verdict: Angie is 100% right (as usual )! I have just picked up some of my stuff at the store and returned the VB jacket after trying it on.
It twisted and pulled in a strange manner, especially starting from
under the arms over the upper back. For that money, it had to be
perfect, which it wasn't, so back it went. It is TTS, just fits in a
strange manner

I tried it on in store and had the same issues. I also tried the VB scuba version (sized down) and liked it much better. I hope to try the classic and schoolboy versions and make a choice. I just know I'll get more use from a solid color and besides you can add interest with the dickies (the striped may limit this). Still kicking myself for not purchasing the one I found on consignment two years ago--brand new with tags!

Wow, I had the opposite experience-- I got it and it fit perfectly, except I will say the first jacket in my size the zipper stuck so my SA brought out the second one, which fit better (more fitted in the arms, etc) and looked super cute with the J Crew "pardon my french" t shirt and jeans. The tailor is shortening the sleeves for me. It fit me better than the similar striped Smythe from earlier this year. But maybe I just got lucky?

I also had a good experience with the striped blazer. No twisting or puckering in site. The visible outside zipper that zips the dickey up stuck on the first one I tried on, but the next one was fine.

Sounds like quality is inconsistent. Tanya's photos are very helpful to demonstrate the issues. Thanks for the warning, Angie.

This VB jacket is KILLER STUNNING. Pristine, impeccable quality, and excellent fit. Unique too. It has gorgeous unexpected panels and piping all over it.

I feel I made the right choice to leave the striped VB blazer behind, Angie, thanks to your warning. I was having doubts and that is never right with something that pricey. I am glad it worked out for other people. Maybe the quality is inconsistent piece to piece.

I will probably try the VB moto you recommend here. Is it TTS ? I was thinking of trying it in size 2.

Oh gee, yeah that blue and red blazer does look like it has an odd fit. Unfortunate because the colors were lovely on you. Ah well, on to more fab things!
