Between these two leather jackets...

Okay, I only have these stock photos right now, but will get photos of myself in these when a.) one of them arrives in the mail, and b.) my photographer son arrives home for the weekend.

I have this Marc New York leather jacket in the "Ink" color. http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/ma.....27?origin=

I got a size S, which my husband thinks is a little too roomy on me, but I fear if I get an XS, I won't be able to fit a light sweater beneath it when leather jacket season arrives.

I also ordered this Sam Edelman one http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/sa.....ersonalize in the "Aragon" green. If it arrives by the weekend, when DS comes home, I will have him photograph me in both and you ladies can give me your opinions.

But in the meatime, any thoughts?

I like them both. The second one appears a bit softer than the first, but that may not turn out to be true. Do you have a preference for the colour?

Will you wear mostly with pants? One looks a bit more cropped than the other (blue vs. green) but that may turn out to be mistaken also. SO hard to tell from the stock photos.

I think both are beautiful and you can't go wrong.

Thanks, Suz. I haven't seen the green one IRL yet, so I'm not certain about which color I prefer.

I have had to give away two green leather jackets (one because -- some of you may remember -- I couldn't get rid of its heavy musty smell, and one because it was just too snug in the shoulders so it went to a dainty-shouldered niece) so I would love to have a green one, but I have never had -- and have long wanted -- an ink blue one, so there's no real help there.

I have ordered the Marc New York in Ink.... impatiently waiting its arrival... it is not scheduled to arrive until Monday!! Can't wait to see this on you. So I vote for the Marc.

How is the length on the Marc for you? I have a long torso, so the length would be a big consideration for me (the green is longer). Personally, I prefer the look of the green, but obviously would need to see them on you.

I agree it's going to depend on how long your torso is and also your length preference. The blue looks to be shorter and more suited to a shorter torso with the higher lapels and waist,etc. For me (a very short waisted person) the green would almost certainly be too long and even the blue might be too long. Personally, I prefer motos to be on the shorter side especially if you want to wear it closed. Both colors are gorgeous.

For you, wait and see which fits better and which best brings out your own coloring. For me, I would get the blue one. If the green were olive, though, then I would be in a quandry. But still, fit and how the color looks on you.

UPDATE:

DS came home and immediately agreed with DH about the ink blue Marc jacket: too big.

The green Sam Edelman jacket had arrived by then and they both said there was something wonky about the cut. It fit beautifully except in the shoulders, which looked like they needed some extra padding inside to fill them out. (!!!) This never happens to me. Usually the shoulders on things are too tight.

So now I'm waiting on the XS in the ink blue Marc jacket. Cross your fingers!

I ordered the blue Marc too, in my regular size and one size down despite the recommendation to size up, knowing leather will stretch. Curious to see how it fits you and what you think, April.

Aquamarine, the XS looks better from a fit perspective, but for practicality, if I actually wanted to put a sweater beneath it, it would be *very* snug.

Oh, I already ordered the Sam Edelman jacket. Now I am worried. But I do have broad shoulders, so hopefully it will be OK...

Brooklyn, it is a gorgeous jacket and I do hope it works for you! It's possible that I just got one that was oddly made -- that happens.

I love the black one and it's cool and modern.

FRCD -- although some of these definitely look black at a glance, they're actually all either deep blue or deep green. Which is the one you found cool and modern? I'll definitely keep your assessment in mind as I make my decision!

The Marc Ink jacket was beautiful but it wasn't exactly what I was looking for since I want to use as an indoor jacket didn't feel like one I would wear indoors so I kept the Halogen pieced leather jacket.

I returned the Marc ink jacket too...it was really dark, almost black-looking, not quite the blue color I was looking for. Beautiful jacket, however.

Oh yes that was another reason.... it was much darker blue than it appeared on my screen.
