Yep. Right up my alley! These are definitely "Hepburnesque." This particular pair has odd welt pockets on the back. These kind of pants should always have side pockets. The welts look like they're placed really low on her bottom. And she doesn't even have one! I always notice this detail, because welt pockets are often highlighted when your booty raises them up and makes them three D!
Suz, while I cringe at sewing trousers in general, I suspect that I could get the best result sewing these in a gorgeous wool gabardine. With this full a pant, you can fiddle with the fullness and waistband, etc until you get it right.
Angie: I agree that this particular look is hard to wear. My own shape, however, adds a certain, um, "structure" of sorts to the look, and I think they don't need to puddle or be quite so wide. In my mind, it's the luxury of the drape, falling straight from the waist, with no break at the leg crease, that makes them glamorous. And the BB trousers? They are beautiful, with what appears to be a perfect fabrication. Oh -- and lined? So nice to see that feature again. Lined trousers lay so much more nicely. Of course, when the lining is cheap, it's a horror.
Impetus to sew is building, building, building......better get to it before Christmas decorations crowd my space further!
