Roberta, much appreciate your kind and complimentary words! Thank you.

Sharan, such wise, "puzzle-solving", and encouraging words! Thank you! Lots to think about. Excited to have a big try on session over the weekend

Your enthusiasm is infectious and you I can't help but smiling as I read along with your musings Angie! Yes the boots are gorgeous and all the coat options would make them sing - plus I suspect you will find unexpected combinations in your closet. Waiting for the next installment!

What Jaime said!!

Love seeing the creative fashion brain at work. Look forward to seeing what the end result is too.

Jaime and Sal, such generous words. Thank you! Keep you posted.

Fun puzzling!

If the cream teddy with brown trim would work with the boots, could you look for a brown *scarf* that would make the boots work with the rest of your cream outerwear capsule?

Thanks, Sarahd8! A good bookending idea - although I can't wear a brown scarf. School uniform killed that for me! I'd throw on my citron, orange, or my Burberry instead

I need a brown belt!

Looking forward to the final decisions when you're ready Angie! Try on sessions take take time but are so worth the effort. Can't wait to see what you decide!

Thanks, Lisa. Decisions made

UPDATE: I'm keeping ONE brown topper as a wildcard experiment, and the brown boots are going back. More in a separate thread on WHY I came to that decision!

Can you guess which topper I'm keeping?

Shearling Moto! Or maybe the Bomber :). I know you love RL, so do I.

I think you are keeping the RL teddy faux fur.
I am interested in hearing about why you decided to return the booties, probably not happy with the darker color.

I don't like the shade of the boots on your photos - it looks muddier and way less vibrant than on the stock photo.
Like Joyce, I think the topper you'll keep is the faux fur teddy!

And I think so too, if that’s the cream one with brown trim. I think you know I’m not a fan of the dark brown items!

I'm placing my bet on the RL teddy

Fascinating

Keeping you in suspense for longer....

Wow! The plot really thickens!!

I want to hear the boots story!

I'm ruling out RL coat because of the itch, even though I know you loved it and it looks great.

I would have voted for the moto but since its was such a great match for the boots and the boots are going back, I think not.

The RL cream is a good bet, but...you already have cream and cream adjacent coats.

So I'm voting for the RL bomber. Without any conviction.

The suspense! It is impossible to guess - is the wildcard an itchy coat that would require a scarf? Shouldn't be the second bomber because its virtue was matching the boots - but who knows? The cream jacket with brown trim looks more like you than the other one - does that make the brown with cream trim more of a wildcard? Waiting eagerly for the denouement of this story !

Oh the suspense!

Let's see, the RL brown tweed was itchy so that's going back. The Shearling moto is lovely but matched the boots that are not being kept and would require alteration so I give that a pass too.

The RL shearling bomber with cream trim would be a real wildcard for your wardrobe, but it is very dark (at least in the stock photos) so I'm uncertain how well it will pair with the brights in your wardrobe and if you'd really want a dark coat in colder months when it's dark outside. Of course, it has a light color at the neck area, so it might be the keeper. Oh but I can only choose one so...

I'm going to guess the RL cream teddy with the brown trim, because cream is lovely and goes well with your wardrobe, it also brightens up an outfit on a dreary winter day, and the brown trim is a way to start dabbling with more brown.

I'm going to guess if the boots were a good fit and comfortable, but the color was too dark, they are going back because you're not looking to build out a capsule with darker brown right now. I've spent time this weekend assessing my NAS items and my budget and if something was a duplicate (like some of the jeans were) they are going back so I have budget for items that better integrate into my existing wardrobe capsules (like those Tory Burch corduroy's I am STILL thinking about and did an outfit lab session with this weekend).

Can't wait to hear the final result and why!

Can't wait to hear the story on the boots.
My guess on the jacket keeper is the Ralph Lauren teddy faux fur.

My guess is the RL teddy faux fur, lovely colour and looks super warm and a great casual topper.

My guess of why the boots went back was that you did a comprehensive try-on session at home with the boots and coats (in combination with other items in your wardrobe) and found that you preferred the look of light footwear to the brown boots. They may have looked great, but you had better options already on hand that were more you.

My guess is you are keeping the RL bomber. You returned the boots and the Bernardo is a dead match to your eye. So I don’t think you would keep one without the other. The coat is potentially itchy so I think that went back. The Teddy is a no brainer with color and the interesting lining trim would make it seamless to my eye with your wardrobe. The bomber is really WWII boyfriend type of jacket. It has more swagger and attitude. In black, I feel that’s more in my wheelhouse - historical, rate, steampunk/renfair feel. That’s why I love putting these pieces with really classic tailoring the juxtaposition. The pieces are all wonderful but if you picked the most divergent for your style, the bomber is my guess. But if that’s too too, the Teddy coat would be more second guess.

I'm entertained. Thank you

HINTS:

One person got the reasoning for the toppers completely right. Impressive!

More people guessed why I returned the boots.

I DID NOT keep the cream teddy!

I'm late to the game, so I have a bit of an advantage, but I'll make a guess!

RL Brown tweed coat
. You don't usually tolerate itchy, and it is almost always your first question about wool items, so I think this is being sent back.

Bernardo Shearling Moto. I think this is going back because it is too large and dark. I love this, but I suspect it is too warm a brown for you because, even though your hair is now its darker blonde, you still tend toward cooler or neutral browns from what I've seen.

RL Shearling Bomber. I think this is it. It gives very 80's girl retro vibes, which I know you love. And the cream trim lightens the brown. While in the past you've preferred white, I know mushroom and cream have made inroads now that your hair is darker.

RL Cream Teddy. You said this was going back, so I get a freebie with this one.

I would have guessed you were keeping the one with the tattersall lining. I can’t believe you’re not keeping it. I’m out of guesses.
