Post is a bit long...

I love a good white dress for summer. White dresses look fresh, airy, and cool in the summer heat. I have white dresses, but I felt like I settled when I bought them (Finds #1 and 2). The first looks too much like a nightshirt, a look that some can pull off, but not me. The second makes me look too busty and the hem is above my knee.

White dresses made of eyelet I find captivating. I like v-necks and shirting styles, midi flowing hems. <sigh> I was on the hunt for The One, then I found it! (Find #3) I online stalked this white cotton eyelet tea dress by Donna Karan for most of the summer and into the fall on Saks Off 5th (four months!). The price was too high, the exchange rate between the US and Canadian dollar was dismal, plus, I had to pay for shipping, duties and taxes. The dress wasn't available here. Macy's had it, but not in my size. Of course, I became obsessed.

Trolling the website nearly every day, dreading that my size would sell out when the prices dropped as the summer wore on. I got a scare when at one point I couldn't add it to my shopping bag and tried to tell myself that it wasn't meant to be, but it just turned out to be a technical glitch. Labour Day came, the kids went back to school, and people's minds turned to fall fashion. Then, October 7, the price dropped! I pounced and ordered it. It arrived October 14, too late for summer, after Canadian Thanksgiving, but I HAD the dress. It was mine!

Of course, I have to pair the dress with the Bella Vita sandals that were ordered May 16 through Amazon, but didn't arrive until August 22.

I don't mind too much that I wasn't able to wear my dress or sandals for the summer. I badly sprained my knee at the beginning of August and was hobbling around. I'm all set for next year! I will consign my other two dresses in the spring.

How patient are you about the items that you purchase for your wardrobe? Do you mind if you can't wear it right away? (I know someone else asked on the forum about obsessions, but I can't find their post.)

Thanks for reading!
