Bay Area NAS: Which store to shop?

I don't really have a plan for the NAS yet, except that I plan on going!

Do any Bay Area people have opinions on which store would be good to shop? I was thinking of going to SF, because I can get to that store via BART. But, I do have a car, so there are other options.

Would, say, the Walnut Creek location be more mellow/less competitive than San Francisco?

Good question! I often go to Walnut Creek although I'm not sure why because I'm blocks from BART and SF Centre is so convenient. (Usually it is after work and it's easy for me to get on 24 for work.) Also, from Berkeley, Corte Madera is pretty quick, believe it or not. Walnut Creek has been undergoing renovation and I don't know whether they are at full size again yet. I do like the Valley Fair store, but it is a bit far.

What kind of help am I? I think there will still be plenty of shoppers at WC and could be really crowded if not full-sized yet. SF could be fun and BART couldn't be more convenient, unless you buy a lot.

It would be fun to go together! I am realizing that I have crazy plans, though, that weekend and am out of town Saturday, busy Sunday afternoon at the museum! I'm also planning to have dinner with Sarah Baker at her film fest Friday night in the city and I don't know if she has any interest on hitting the sale. Potentially we could do some browsing all together? Just a thought.

oh that's cool.. are you guys planning to hit the stores on july 16th itself.. keep me posted on this thread..i might be able to join too.. should be fun. im closer to valley fair though.

Thanks for the input! Rosie, I think you're right--there will be plenty of shoppers no matter which store it is. It would be super fun to see if we can get some YLF-ers to hit the sale together, or to convene for tea after individual shopping.

Nonie, sadly, San Jose is a little far for me coming from Berkeley--the traffic coming back can be nasty and BART doesn't go there.

Maybe we could organize something on Friday at the SF location since it's the most central and is convenient for public transit?

Oh, please keep me posted if any of you wind up in SF. I have an appt. at 6 on Friday evening and a couple more on Saturday, but might be able to shift them around for this.

Melissa- I can come to SF on weekend..but Friday evening won't be possible. by the time i get out of work and drive to SF..it would be too late.

if anyone is heading to valley fair on Friday ( July 16th) or any weekday evening ..let me know..i'll be happy to join.

I can't offer any practical advice, but am hoping you will post pictures of your NAS loot, pretty please?-)

Okay, so I don't know whether Friday the 16th works for anyone, but I hope so. I will unfortunately not be in town over the weekend, so Friday is the only day I can do. It would be so much fun to meet some YLF-ers.

I am planning to go to the San Francisco Center Nordie's on that day, and I can be flexible about timing. Basically, I am going to head over there around lunchtime and be in the area until evening. I would love to meet up with anyone who can make it that day, whether it's for shopping, or tea, dinner, etc.

Feel free to message me if you'd like to meet up and I can provide contact info. I promise to post loot pictures after if I find some things.

Melissa, I can come after work...maybe I will see if I can head out a bit early. The food court downstairs in the mall is yummy, as is Nordie's cafe. Frances, can you make it? I'll stay late. Melissa, I don't usually BART after 8:30 or so, but if you are taking it, too, then I guess I could. Or, I can drive in and take you home.

I would also totally meet up with people Saturday but I, too, am headed out of town, just not sure on timing yet.

Rosie, I'm so glad you can make it on Friday! re: transportation, you couldn't pay me to drive across the bridge on a Friday night, so I'd vote that we try to coordinate for the BART return trip. BART does get increasingly iffy in the later hours, but we will be fine.

Frances, it would be lovely to meet you and I hope you'll be able to squeeze it in around your other commitments.

Should we start a new thread with a title that makes it clear we're having an SF Nordstrom meetup?

I am trying to make some kind of plan for shopping the sale, but it's a little overwhelming.

Oh, this is so exciting! Let me call and see if I can move my Friday appointment to a little earlier in the week. Hopefully, I will be able to confirm by Monday evening. If so, I should be able to head over after work and be able to meet up with you ladies around maybe 5:40 p.m. or so?

Yay! I am getting really excited for Friday.

Nonie, I am so sorry that we're meeting at an inconvenient time/place for you--traffic at that hour will be horrible. I know that I'd be up for doing a San Jose Nordstrom visit some other weekend, and that way we could spread out our YLF shopping goodness and make sure to include you!

Frances, I will keep my fingers crossed that the rescheduling works. That time-frame would be great for me--not sure yet what Rosie's timing will be like.

Medusa, you are too funny. I do feel really lucky to be in an area that contains other YLF-ers. Looks like you are in Colorado? Which part? We will be moving back to my home state of Utah at the end of the summer.

Yay!!! Around 5:30/45 works great for me, too. Melissa, BARTing home together would be great. I will try to leave work a tiny bit early to drop my car off then walk to BART to meet you guys in time.

I definitely agree-let's start another Valley Fair thread? For maybe the weekend after next?
