Battle of the snake print sneakers

The Naturalizers Macayla sneakers finally arrived today (I ordered from Nordstrom a couple of weeks ago, and almost forgot!). Alas, I also picked up the Vince snake print slip-on sneakers a couple of days ago, as another potential contender for new snake print sneakers in my wardrobe to replace an old worn out pair.

I love the style of the Vince sneakers —
The platform and the color in particular. But darn the Naturalizers are comfy! At first when I put them on, they felt a little roomy (I got the M), but with an insole and tightening up the laces, they fit great. Comfy straight out of the box with good cushioning. By contrast, the Vince are a bit stiffer but feel like they will ease up with wear.

I’ll probably wear both around the house in the next few days to make a decision. My heart prefers the Vince, but the Naturalizers sure feel good.

These both look great. Slip ons always slip off my heels, so aren't an option for me! Either choice you make will look fabulous, so it's a matter of deciding which one feels best and works best for the looks you want.

Thanks, Carol! I have an awful time with shoes slipping off my heels lately, so these are a rare exception. I think they’re cut a bit narrow, which makes them work for me.

I prefer the look of the Vince too however if it was me, I would definitely choose comfort over looks, as both are good looking. I would not keep both, they seem too similar in function unless you think they will be in constant rotation.

Yeah, it’s tempting to keep both, but I won’t wear them so much as to justify two pairs (I still have old sneakers in a few colors — silver, rose gold, blue, and white, in various stages of wear, as I’ve had some of them for a few years). We are tightening up our budget this year, so I need to choose wisely. The Naturalizers are more practical (and less expensive). They feel like a safer bet, comfort-wise. But darn it, I really love the Vince ones! I think I need to wear them around the house today to test them.

Tangent -- Suntiger, you're right -- Nordstrom has a good variety of snake print sneakers this season! Last year when I gave away my old ones, I couldn't find anything I liked. There are some nice choices out there now, with reptile/snake prints trending.

Thanks, everyone. I like that the Naturalizers can be laced as tightly as I need them and tied, so then I can just zip quickly in and out of them. And the Vince are slip-on, so that's easy too. I like the slight snip toe and platform on the Vince -- the style feels a bit more refined, and my summer style is SO casual it's nice to elevate it a bit with footwear.

My other sneakers are all lace-up styles, more along the lines of the Naturalizers, so I feel like I've got that particular sneaker style more than covered. My current (non workout) sneaker collection is below. Last year my new acquisitions were the white Adidas (thanks, Rack! only $30 for an experiment that's worked out well), and the black platform Linea Paolo, which are great style-wise but a bit of a struggle to keep on my feet. The silver and rose gold ones are battered but still serviceable -- I should probably eye a replacement for the rose gold this season because they're my "nude" neutral for summer. The black and white print Nikes are probably going to the ranch or getting donated -- they're not super comfortable anymore. The old Via Spiga snake print ones are going to the ranch for house shoes. They're stretched out and beat up.

I prefer the look of the Vince's too, but comfy is key with sneakers. Your decision might be easier after you wear them around the house for a few hours.

Ooh, that’s tough, because I love those Vince sneaks, but it’s hard to say no to a shoe that feels amazing when you put it on. Style them with some different outfits and decide?

They are two different looks to my eye. The Naturalizers are really casual and maybe a little less edgy. I'd pick the Vince's for you. I like both, btw, so I'm trying to be objective. My Vince sneakers were SUPER stiff , and never really got softer. (But still very wearable .)

I will have to give them a try with outfits. Working from home today but in my workout gear (I keep threatening to go for a walk or run but am having trouble getting motivated).

I’d love to keep both, but we are tightening our budget due to business fallout from the coronavirus. I need to dial further back on spending than I had already planned to, so I’d better find a way to deal with my darkening mood that is not recreational online shopping!

I think it is a case of thinking where the gaps are and what you do during those times. For example with jeans when I wear a light top - working or socialising, or when I wear shorts while travelling.

I wear my sneakers mostly in winter spring and autumn - in summer I almost exclusively wear sandals and running shoes if I need a sneaker. My feet get too hot to wear with fashion sneakers.

It is stressful thinking about how to prepare a business for Covid19.

If you only keep one pair, I say keep the Vince’s. Since all your other sneakers have laces, the Vince’s give more variety.

I actually like the Naturalizers better but I’d go with whichever fits better and will be most comfortable. I’ve bought sneakers thinking they would soften up and they never did. Good idea to wear them around the house first.
