Sorry, boring question, but I was cleaning out my closet and realized that most of my socks are pretty ratty. So I'm hoping for some suggestions for where to stock up for fall. Looking for good quality at a decent price so they'll last more than a season; I want to just buy 10 same pairs and call it done.

Criteria:
- basic black socks to wear in boots or booties
- no wool!

Regarding the price, is $5/pair reasonable, or won't that get me quality?
