At what age is COLORED denim a "no no"?

I LOVE this forum and and would appreciate some help with my question!

I am a 50 year old Mom -( presently job hunting) - of three. I really like the cobalt blue and red colored denim but am not sure it is appropriate for my age. I enjoy my age and this stage of my life (except unemployment) and don't want to look likeI am trying to be 30 again! If it matters, I wear a size 4 or 6 and flats during the day but heels when I go out.

Yay or Nay for colored denim in your 50's. Thanks gals!

I vote yay! Once you figure out who's in their 50s on here, you'll see lots of women in their 50s wearing colored denim.

I'm 50 and I just bought a pair of orange jeans (see attached photo) for spring. Go for it!

Personally, I'd say you're never too old! It's all in how you style them...

Plus, I think 50 is the new 30- look at all of the fabulous 50+ year olds here!

Oh, yay for sure! I don't think there's an age limit on coloured denim, provided it's styled right.

I'm 53 and have jeans in white, kelly green, red, mustard, aqua, and watermelon! I say go for it!

Does anyone have style tips - DO's or DON'TS - of colored denims (skinny or straight)?

Yay for colored jeans! I'm 48 and will get some once I can find a pair that's long enough in a color I like. BTW, I just bought a bright green blazer! Have fun shopping!

Personally, I don't feel comfortable in super skinny skinnies (the ones that really hug your lower leg). They just feel too teenager to me at this age, but others might feel differently. The ones in my photo are considered "slim" cuts, so they might not even qualify as skinnies....but they're not "straights" either!

I'd stay away from flimsy fabrics, which will slip down over the day. You don't have to go designer - I have 2 pairs from Forever 21's Divine Rights of Denim line - but make sure the fit doesn't look too t eenybopper. I don't even like that look on teens! Gap has some nice ones too, and Nordstrom has a nice line from Blue Essence (but read reviews and size down!).

I'm 54 and wondered the same thing. But I spend so much time in jeans, that having some variety in color has been so much fun. I think finding the right fit and keeping the rest of my outfit conservative is the key for me. Go for it, why should the youngins have all the fun?

I'm also in that 50+ group and would love a pair too...

I agree with the adage of not going too teeny bopper.

I'm trying to get my 80+ Mom in some. She loves denim and some of her summer pants just look too sweet old lady for her. These coloured denims suit her personality so much more.

I'll second what lyn said, 200! I have a pair in leaf green. I think its all in how you style the rest of the outfit, and stay away from anything tricky or sparkly in the pants.

colored denim is a neutral and can be worn with impunityy...get out there and rock those babies.

I voted YAY !! I just want to echo what Nancylee said about tight jeans that verge on leggings..I am not fond of that on anyone at any age.

I agree, any age as long as it's styled right! Red is especially classic. Go for it!

Nancylee - I think you and Isabel are right on about the leggings look. I am not one who can pull that look off especially with colored denim. I think Gap will be my first Mall stop, followed by F21 (I have never bought anything there) and Nordies.

I'm 57 and just bought some fabulous red skinny jeans which I plan to wear with my white/navy striped boatneck tee and navy Sperry topsiders this summer. I'm wearing them now with a black tee and leopard flats. I also have purple and gray jeans.

I think anyone can wear coloured jeans - the age limit has been set at 200 as per above posts.

Absolutely not a no-no. I am (clears throat) somewhat older than you by um--years--maybe decades. I recently bought a pair of NYDJ on sale in red. Normally red overpowers me, so while I love the color, I can't wear it on top. Love to wear redpants with a navy or dark blue.

What not to wear: Last week I saw a 35-ish woman in the bank wearing a bright pink pair of pj bottoms. (REALLY BRIGHT pink.) The fabric was printed little black and while Hello Kitties all over. I'd draw the line at age 10 for these, and worn at home only. (Wish I'd thought to pull out my cell phone and snap a photo.)

Definitely for all ages! But to avoid teeny-bopper looks, avoid wearing skinnies with sneakers, fashion or others. Or Uggs
