Walking through shops for the first time in almost two months, and absolutely nothing is sparking my interest. Too many boxy cuts, insipid colors, and shoes that look like what I was wearing 4 years ago.

Well, my wallet is happy!

Anybody feeling similarly uninspired?

Not me, unfortunately! I am super excited about two directions that are new compared to last year this time, the 70's and new waist definition. Luckily/or not, most of the things in those categories I like are very pricy and out of my budget.

Not me either. Loving the stuff in stores and clients are generally very happy. Many more clients back in skinnies and straight legs. Surprised by that.

I heading out to Gap tomorrow to see if they have any gray jeans. I'm also going to stop in to the Loft and/or Talbots to see if they have any short cardigans to wear with my sleeveless dresses. I sure hope I'm not uninspired, but my wallet and my husband hope I am

There are EXCELLENT jeans at the Gap, Karie. Try the new "Resolution SLIM STRAIGHTS". Do not confuse them with the "Resolution Skinny" because those are sausage casing deluxe. I bought the first pair. Love them.

Tanya, I am not seeing much of that waist definition out there yet, at least not in casual pieces, and any 70s influence I see right now is very boho Free People.

I was not really looking for basics like jeans (or really anything in particular), just keeping an eye out for potentially interesting pieces to put a kick into my spring wardrobe.

The only thing I wanted to try on -- the dress from my Finds below -- was unavailable in my size. I hope you all have more success!

I have not been to shops in ages although I have done some little shopping online. My city stores are not very exciting in general.

Thanks, Meredith! Looking at the dresses, I was pretty sure that the S would be too small and the L looked huge, so safe to say I should probably order a M to try. If I try it -- I think my recent little weight gain has me a bit gun-shy to try anything. It's really got me down.

Hugs, Janet, I uderstand! I gained weight more rapidly than I ever have over the winter. As much as I try not to let it bother me, I'm frustrated I let it happen (ok, some of it was out of my control, but there were also a few too many cinnamon rolls...) and it does make me much more self-conscious about my stomach, hips, and thighs in certain clothes. BUT, this dress did not make me think twice about any of those areas. I am an 8 veering towards 10 and I ordered the medium. Length is great. Hope you find a spark of interest to make you excited about trying things on again!

Una, I adore that color! Can't find anything I like in it. I tried a JCrew top in a slightly lighter shade and the cut didn't work for me. I hope more of it shows up -- its so hard to find.

Meredith, thanks! I'm an 8 in most things these days, so that helps.

I know I'll be back on a better track soon (training for a big week-long bike ride in July), but this winter took a toll. And it won't be much longer I can hide under layers!

So Janet, we have the same purse and now Una shows this fringe cross-body bag that I was minutes away from purchasing but at the last minute decided not to order when I was last in Nordstrom. I guess this is pretty typical here but being new...this felt so strange that I'm pulling the same bags as you ladies.

I feel the same way Janet. Looking for flared jeans- went to the Gap, because , duh, they sell jeans . No such thing. The store looks like a discount outlet right now. Just nothing inspiring. Now that said, we do not have near the retail diversity you do, but sheesh. Where are all the clothes?

It has only just recently hit me how much worse the shopping is in Canada than it is in the US. Why is that? I use to assume it was much the same.

Actually, Una. You like a lot of the '70s stuff - as you quoted in my blog post.

Janet and Lisa, you'd look GREAT in flares and '70s blouses. Also most of the newer style shoes are available online at the moment.

Sveta, I'm trying to purchase more pairs of trousers, but I keep on needing the right jeans update. I needed a pair of cropped skinnies - more Summery - to wear with the bigger tops I just bought. I am now after a pair of white flares which feel more like buying trousers if you know what I mean. That should be really fun.

Meredith scored big time this season, and looks amazing in her new stuff.
