Ask Angie: what to wear?

Angie, I love your blog and I'm so happy to join this forum! I do need help- I'm attending a fall garden party in a few weeks for my child's school and I have no idea what to wear. The weather should be some what cool. Men are to wear jacket and tie. I generally like more classic, tailored clothes but I tend to go more casual than not.

Welcome, Denise! When you say "somewhat" cool, can you describe the approximate temperature?

If men are supposed to wear jacket and tie, I would expect women to be in skirts or dresses, probably with a jacket as well if the weather isn't warm.

What is your body type? That might influence the style of dress that would be best.

The weather should be in mid 70-80's, hard to tell around here. A sweater or jacket would be wise.

My body type right now is apple-ish. I had a baby last year so my waist is not as defined as normal. I'm also high waited. My bust is big for my ht, 5'3" frame. My legs are probably my best asset.

I do like to wear skirts but have a problem pairing them with a blouse. I wore one the other day with a loose blouse and felt I looked pregnant.

I like dresses too but rarely wear them and I'm not sure why that is.

Thanks for any suggestions.
